Scott,

This sneak preview of the set-up brought a grin to my face.

I have been working trade-shows in our industry (scientific equipment and metrology) for +25 years.
For a huge contrast, you should also capture some footage of the tear-down :-)
If any of the booth setup persons are reading this; I tip my hat to you for the long days you are putting in !

A great teaser video - one of these years I will have to attend CEDIA
Thanks for sharing this!

It's huge!! I'll go listen to the sound booth tomorrow. I'm not sure they are playing the sub tho. It's set up outside the booth.

That'd be great if you could hear their demo. It should be incredible. Would love to hear your impressions. I'm looking for a PHC set up for myself.

Thanks!

I'll do that in my podcast on Monday 9/30, when I chat with Mark Henninger, Brent Butterworth, and Geoff Morrison about what we saw and heard at the show. You can tune in live at live.twit.tv or watch the podcast when it's posted on Tuesday.

Well, we don't have live streaming capabilities at CEDIA, but my podcast on Monday will be a wrap up of the show, so stay tuned for that!

I heard the PHC system on Thursday. The 24" sub is big, loud, goes down to 22Hz and they had two of them in their theater setup. It was the best sound system I heard yesterday until I found the Wisdom Audio room far away from the main convention floor. The video clips they played on a 21' wide acoustically transparent screen were incredible. I think it's the best sound system I've ever heard at a trade show. A 7.1 setup (with six subs around the room) and 70,000 watts of power. I'll be back there today and probably on Saturday for this one-of-a-kind demo. Save your pennies. They said the room build-out could be re-created for about $600,000.

Scott. How about some rare scenes of the show floor breakdown after the show closes. Nobody sees that unless they have too. Its mainly seen by the company junior lackeys. You wait hours and hours for the Expo workers to bring back your boxes and take down things such as your banners. Its usually a long long night spilling over through the next day. How about taking a bullet and suffering through it and sharing it with your audience. smile.gif

Sorry, we're totally wasted; we wanted to get out of there as much as everyone else, and we had much less to tear down then they did, so we beat a hasty retreat! I'm willing to suffer through a lot for my audience, but enough is enough! :)

Excellent videos Scott, will you be going to RMAF? Quite a few audiophiles here who would love to see you cover that event.

Mark,
Couldn't have said it better myself! In fact I also poked Scott early in this thread, suggesting the same idea, to catch the tear-down.
In fact I had just endured what you described; by participating in a tear-down at one of our industry events eek.gif
