I think it's impossible to argue that console gaming is cheaper anymore. it just isn't. but I'm still not that excited to start gaming on a pc. I'm brainwashed into loving consoles

I've already said what it will take to get me to go PC. Dragon's Dogma with mod support. Give me that and I might never pick up another game again. (Combat is everything I wanted in an RPG)

I mostly love my Xbox One, but it definitely has its issues that frustrate me from time to time.

I enjoy PC Gaming much more when done right, and I have both consoles. Unfortunately the fact is that consoles makes sense because it's the easier path for both developers and gamers (in the line of what @Lost_Mind posted above).

I bought the Xbox one when it came out. The constant updates has made this machine great. I decided to buy a ps4 and noticed it purely a gaming machine as of right now. You can't stream media, no ir or bluetooth to ir like the ps3. The Xbox one does so much more besides gaming. Until the update the ps4 to add much needed features. The Xbox one is hands down the winner in my opinion.

With a 7.1 setup the XBOne is mostly useless with apps and the hdmi input. Because of still having the launch issue of mis-directed surround audio.

I thought it's been mentioned before. The issue shave been there since launch. With a 2.0 audio source from the apps/hdmi input, you get audio from the FL/FR and dead channels for the rest. So post processing can't be applied. With 5.1 content form the HDMI/apps you get two dead channels. But also with 5.1 content, the surround audio is erroneously routed to the rear surround channels. With game audio and BD audio it has typically been fine in my use. These issues have been there since launch. For some reason I guess MS just doesn't want to fix it. Or they have no ideal how to route the audio to the proper channels.

I wonder if a software update would allow PS4 to play 4k in the future...

4k streaming, I don't see why not. (maybe bandwidth issues with HDMI 1.4)

4k gaming, no way in hell. graphics capability is not good enough. it can barely do 1080p at 30fps. 4k would probably come out to 10fps.

4k Blu-ray, nope. Requires new hardware. (HDMI 2.0, HDCP 2.2, new higher capacity discs etc)

Stand tall and shake the heavens...

Well, there are many games that could run at 4k if the update comes. Heck, the PS3 had a game that was 4k native. (Okami HD)

Analysis: Sony pushes past 50 percent of the worldwide console market
And Xbox One is bringing in much less revenue for at least one major publisher

Warning: I make a lot of mistakes but occasionally I learn from them!
