Just a thought.

Actually that's a great idea since a PC monitor would make good sense to "optimize" for a single viewer's experience.

1080p and lossless audio. EVERY BD should have them both.

Everyone who has seen the Sony native 4K projector upconverting 1080p source material confirms that the upconverted 4K offers a noticeable improvement and makes the increased display resolution worth-while.

Why not have the chance to enjoy the 4K display now upconverting your 1080p library?

At these large screen sizes flat-panel technology, due to its side-by-side RGB structure, cannot provide 1.5 screen-width viewing without visible pixels at the 1080p level. Going up to 4K allows for proper 30-degree viewing angles off these large-screen panels for an authentic home-theater experience.

Sure, when native 4K content arrives, that will be even better. But there's no reason for the manufacturers to not provide 4K display resolution as soon as it's technically and economically viable.

Here are pictures from the floor at CES of the LG 98UB9800 - 98" UHD Full Array LED w/ Local Dimming.  Stand is removeable so it can be wall mounted.  Should be shipping towards the end of 2014.
