Glad you made it finally and can't wait to read all of more on various CES topics! After more than a couple multi-hour delays there, I have sworn to never fly through Philadelphia again.

Thanks Mark, any word on the Vizio TVs?
I heard they will be releasing a 60 and a 120-inch 4K models featuring High Dynamic Range technology with 800 nit bright back-lights, 384 active LED zones, Ultra-Color Spectrum 10-bit color support, and the Spatial Scaling Engine for 4K upscaling.

Let us know how this one looks.
From what little I have read so far ( too early to really say) this may be the set to beat at a respectable price $.

Thanks

Paul

The $64,000 question for some of us is about REQ. What exactly is Dirac Unity? Specifically, is it a solution similar to Trinnov's remapping or something else altogether?

Those of us that can't afford a Datasat RS20i or an ADA unit would like to know smile.gif....

Audio Gear: Trinnov Altitude 16/24, NAD M27 and Wyred4Sound MMC-7 amps

4K Ultra Short Throw Projector

Sony has developed a 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector featuring a furniture-like design. Utilizing space itself, it can be placed near most walls and has the ability to cast a 4K Ultra High-Definition image up to 147-inches, turning unused space into a display.

The new projector requires no special tools or construction to install and operate. Simply set it right next to a wall that would not yield any shadows of people into a screen, and plug it in to enjoy 4K Ultra HD images. Furthermore, it has the ability to display current video content services from IP, satellite or cable providers as well as 4K content sources including Video Unlimited 4K, Netflix and 4K content shot on Sony's expanding range of 4K Handycam camcorders.

The 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector will be available in the U.S. by summer of 2014 for approximately $30,000 to $40,000.

Hi:
In October, I had some $, so I wrote Pioneer if they could leak out any info about 2014 lines. The response was "Wait till January". The 2014 lines will be announced.
You know I got rid of my Susano? I have nothing at the moment. I wanted to go for the SC-79, thinking over it again, I decided to wait till CES.
I like the Yamaha separates, but will prefer Elite.

Take care,,

I second that. While the flag ship high end monster size 4k and OLED stuff is cool too, I am interested in the full LG flatscreen lineup, you know, the stuff us mere mortals can actually afford.

Some booth babe coverage and photos would be nice as well. Given CES's new attire guidelines for 2014, it IS newsworthy after all rolleyes.gif

I was hoping to shop for an ultra-large 4K flat panel as good PQ as 60" Pioneer Kuro that doesn't cost as much as a car or more choices for a 4K projector with HDMI 2.0 in 2014 so am disappointed on what's been announced.

Panasonic claiming they can do LCD so that it's as good as their last gen plasma. 'cuse me, I'm highly skeptical of that. I won't believe it until it's real product and tested. I have never seem any LCD display that can deliver the black levels, control of motion blur and still look as film-like as the Kuro or latest Panasonic ZT plasma. Shame they dropped out of OLED and really don't have anything to offer (yet).

We'll have to wait and see. I also have talked to Pioneer US and that may for the std line but you could be right. I do know they will not be releasing any new Elites for sale until the usual time frame. but they could always announce them. and I was told that there would not be any new Elite AVR's shown at CES. I asked smile.gif and the person I talked to would definitely know what their plans were; he wasn't just a phone CSR wink.gif

yes, I know you did. I don't know what I'd do in your shoes, wait more or get something now and sell it later. maybe they will announce - at least you'd know what to expect when they do come out smile.gif

I read a good review on Hisense smart TV apps at CES, wondering if you will be checking them out? Also, if TCL is exhibiting? Since China is going to be the biggest consumer market this year, with India soon to follow, I assume Chinese manufacturers will kick b___ on traditional Japanese and possibly Korean TV manufacturing.
