Didn't notice this forum, so was tried starting a new one. Found it from outside forum.
Anyway, decision on the a 665 demo is needed.
Here was my post:
Demo Sony 665 purchase decision advice needed
After reading the Sony VPL-VW675ES intro. called my dealer who has now put VPL-VW665ES for a reasonable discount with less than 200 hours. Can't afford to buy new to get the 350k:1 improved Dynamic contrast (vs. 300k:1). Is the new live broadcast capability HyLG (in a future HDMI protocol firmware update) worth sacrificing? Will have projector for a long time. Examined spec sheets and can't find any other differences.

When live sports in 4k are out (they are on my DirecTV box now on my 4k TV), would lack of HyLG matter? How might 665 and other projectors handle that live broadcast?

Don't want to be foolish as the demo is still a heck of a lot of money.
Have put deposit on it immediately.
Otherwise, I'll still live with my 1080-p Meridian MF-1 for awhile longer.

Thanks for comments.

Mike

Specs both have Motion Flow (read elsewhere).

in Europe it is 9999 Euros! Why are we in the US paying $5,000 more!!!

Noticed this on Sound and Vision brief review. Wouldn't this provide full HDR 60p capability?
Appears to contradict other statements.

Other notable VPL-VW675ES features include dual HDMI 2.0a/HDCP 2.2 inputs that provide full 18-Gbps bandwidth to display 2160p/60 signals, 3D support, and Sony’s new X1 Extreme 4K processor to enhance the look of both upconverted high-def and UHD programs.

I'd like to know that also if someone can shed some light here.

This says hdmi 2.0 inputs isnt that by definition 18ghz ?

I'm not so sure about that. I think the unit itself has the 18Gbps hardware, but its EDID is intentionally written with lower specs to "differentiate it" from its big brother, the VW5000ES. I am doing some investigation and hopefully I'll know more soon.

Contrary to popular belief, it does seem to have a new/different Main board with HDMI (Q Board, even newer than the 5000ES), as do all of these models:

VPL-VW665ES: Q Board Part # A-2085-955-A
VPL-VW675ES: Q Board Part # A-2165-340-A
VPL-VW5000ES: Q Board Part # A-2082-592-A

This article also made me believe it shares a lot with the 5000ES, as well as the 665ES:,

Quote:
[i] Hybrid Log-Gamma (HyLG) will be upgraded depending on its standardization schedule. Hybrid Log Gamma will also be available for VVPL-W5000ES soon after the HDMI standard is finalized.
Stay tuned.
