I ordered mine when I got the email. I'm not that anxious to get it, but I figured it was easier than chasing it down somewhere else, especially since Amazon blacklisted them.

FYI: UHD is rolling out on Google Play Movies now. It's not showing for me yet, but is for some.

I have yet to really look at digital UHD options since I only have a 1080p pj, but I was wondering, for other services that been offering UHD, do they let you buy the UHD and get it streamed, but downscaled to 1080p for display? (thus getting the higher bitrate, bit depth, color gamut, 4:4:4 chroma?) I have the Nvidia Shield TV, so I'm wondering if I can get some added benefit from UHD Google Play movies even on a 1080p pj?

How big of an internet connection do you need to run this in 4k HDR?

Anyone have a list of 4k movies available on the Play store via Chromecast? I'm thinking of getting the Chromecast Ultra today and I have a 50% off promotion from Googly Play that I would like to use on one of them before it expires in a couple of days.

Supposedly the UHD movies appearing on Google Play were a mistake, they weren't supposed to roll out yet. Apparently the official launch is still pending with no date.

So if you already have the Google Chromecast it isn't able to display anything in HDR if the content is HDR being sent through it, such as that movie being HDR? I would need to get this HDR version of Chromecast? I thought if the TV and the Source material were HDR it wouldn't matter about the Streamer.

No, the streamer very much matters.

I have the first chromecast but haven't used it in years. Do they have channels like Vudu, Amazon, yet? How about a remote? Maybe I'm old fashioned but I have no interest in using my phone for a remote and "casting" just put the channel; "app" on my TV. Glad to see they are doing 4K now but, Iv'e been doing that for a year on Roku. They need to stop with all the channel segregation. All channels should be available on any device just like cable/ satellite...and, if I buy a digital movie say from Warner bros. it should play at any digital provider just like DVDs will play on any brand of DVD player.....sorry for the rant LOL

Anyone know for sure if the Chromecast Ultra has been updated for Dolby Vision yet? I've heard on another thread that it now does Dolby Vision but not sure?
