Neothings And Cinemar Announce Device Support

La Mesa, CA, January3, 2006 - Neothings, Inc., in coordination with Cinemar, Inc. announced support of the Neothings’ Avalon™ matrix switch in Cinemar’s MainLobby software.

MainLobby is a graphical front end for home theater PCs, which provides an attractive user interface for launching applications, controlling components, music and movies. Cinemar also offers DVDLobby, a graphical front end for control of stored media, as well as external DVD changers.

“The combination of MainLobby, DVDLobby, and Neothings Avalonâ„¢ matrix switch provides a powerful method to control a large number of DVD and other contentâ€, states Bill Paul, CEO of Neothings, Inc.

The Avalonâ„¢ is a component video and digital audio matrix switch, featuring up to 8 component video and digital audio inputs and up to 4 outputs. The 8x4 version can accommodate 8 sources of high-definition component video. With the popularity of 400 disc DVD changers, home theater users can build vast libraries using multiple changes, and an Avalonâ„¢ matrix switch. Using the 4 outputs, each output can be routed to a different room in the home. With this latest announcement, the system integrator or home theater DIY user can create a DVD distribution system capable of up to 3200 DVDs routable to 4 different locations throughout the home. Since the Avalonâ„¢ matrix switch is a non-blocking matrix, all zones can view the same DVD from the same changer, or each zone can view content from different changers. The Avalonâ„¢ is also available in a 6x2 configuration.

Neothings was started earlier this year with the goal of creating audio / video switching and routing products specifically built for home theater enthusiasts and custom system integrators. Home theater customers typically need products features that mass market manufacturers aren't willing to include, so Neothings focus has been on performance and features rather than price. Custom Integrators that are tired of hassles when trying to control regular consumer equipment will breathe a sigh of relief with the many control options and simple operation of the Neothings Integrator line of equipment.
