Great system. I love the modular equipment setup.

I've been hunting for an acoustically transparent electric screen with tension. How does the Elite CineTension do? Are there any wave problems? I've got a 106" Deluxe Model B, and despite the tension arm, I still have waves on either side. I'd love to raise my center speaker up, too, but it would have to be behind the screen. Also, due to my room constraints (it's my last temp room before I finish the basement and expand my theater), I have a drop ceiling, and I'm using T-clips that's wire-reinforced to I-Bolts in the sub-flooring above. Would I be able to use these with the Elite?

Let me know if you get a chance.

That is one amazing system! I'm saving up to get a screen/projector but it won't be till next year.... bummer. I have 56"HDILA but I want a 92 or 106 and WOW, your system makes makes me want it more! Beautiful setup!

Thanks guys.

schroedk, I've been very happy with the Cinetension2. Elite replaced my original screen (under warranty) which was not tensioned due to waves. They didn't have the same screen in stock so they upgraded me to the tensioned model for free. I've had this one for 2-3 times as long as the untensioned one and still not the slightest hint of a wave. I can't vouch for the acoustic fabric as I don't have it myself. Check the load rating of the clips as this thing weighs over 50 pounds.

I see that you have an affinity for components! A component junkie, if you will! It takes one to know one! Do you actually use all of the devices or are any of the devices serving duty as a paperweight filling in space. Please do not take the inquiry as sarcasm. I get these kind of inquiries all the time with my setup.

Oh, by the way, wonderful set up! Very versatile!

Regards.

Thanks. Yeah there are a couple pieces that don't see much use, but they're all connected and functional. Very few receivers have enough inputs/outputs for that many components/monitors, but thanks to a pair of component switch boxes, an HDMI switch box, and an HDMI distribution amp, it gets done.

Good looking system, I also like how the screen comes down over the day use system. The PIP is a great versatile setup. Way to go!

Is it bad that I keep stopping to stare at the dog disproportionately more than the other pictures?

Do you have any issues with the Distribution System? Sorry for the newb question, but does it distribute HD video, SD video, audio, or all of these?

If it distribitues HDMI (like a splitter), does it work well? I'm not talking specifically about the Monoprice switcher, I'm interested in the splitting of an HDMI signal to two different HD TVs, each of which will then be having the same picture.

Thanks.
Mike Lang's Avatar Mike Lang 03:36 PM 07-28-2008
The receiver upconverts everything (composite, component, s-vid) to a single HDMI output which then goes into a Monoprice HDMI distribution amp which then feeds the plasma and projector. The LCD gets its own feed from a component video switch from the 3 HD DVRs and the DVD player. While the plasma and projector can show the same HDMI feed at the same time, I obviously don't need it as the screen covers the plasma.

Thanks. The room is a bit oddly shaped..maybe 900 square feet.

Thanks but interested in the dims (LxWxH) of the theater area only

Primarily from the right main to left main and the screen to back of sofa

Yeah, I had the same reaction. The system looks wonderful. The dog is adorable.

One question--are those a pair of subs at the bottom of your equipment rack? How do you keep them from shaking all the gear?

Yes, a pair of Energy ES12's. They're on isolation pads that work quite well.

sorry for being a newb and not knowing everything i should in advance. I just made a offer on a house and as a longtime AV fan a setup like that is exactly what im looking for. Basically i'm wondering if attempting a setup with 2 flat screens and then a drop down screen would be to much for a beginner to take on?

One has to start somewhere, and being a member of AVS will get you plenty of help.

Does the TV affect the projector image when you are using both? I want to do the TV behind the screen like you did, but I never even though to have one on the side. Just curious how it looks when you have both on at the same time.
Mike Lang's Avatar Mike Lang 06:34 AM 01-03-2011
No, the 32" off to the side doesn't affect the projector's image at all.
