I'm just wondering why you felt the need to add a sub to the front with those 7001s. Those beasts put out so much bass at any spl it's ridiculous. I listened to a demo of them in action one time at a high-end shop in an accoustically treated room and the volume of bass at any spl was enough to make me need to leave the room; it was that forceful. As you're probably aware it wasn't tubby bass either, it was tight, defined, and forceful. I was amazed.

All in all great collection of equipment you have there, have you ever thought about putting their arrangement in a more...pleasing...configuration? What I mean is asthetically they can all be a bit overwhelming the way you have them arranged. Then again if you're happy who cares? Just a question though lol.

Just responding to some questions/comments.

Hammie, you wouldn't know it to look at my room but most of what I use the system for is music. The mcintosh amp brings the front l/r speakers to a different level. Very smooth and detailed.

ILOVEMYHDTV, I live in Berea. Check out the "area home theater meet" section, there is a local group. I just had a meet at my house a few weeks ago. Nice system you have there. That Chris Boti is a good demo.

pcweber111, The subs in the 7001's are very good but the phoenix will dig much deeper in my room. I don't know if you caught it but I have two other subs as well to even out the lf and bring some extra punch to movie soundtracks. I would like to put the equipment in a nice built in cabinet but the only wall that would work on is reserved for a future bathroom. I am so used to my system that it never overwhems me. I also have a very capable universal remote which simplifies everything.

I have been into this hobby for 30+ years (stated with stereo of course) and have put some time and work into planning my system. All of my equipment with the exception of my receiver, blu-ray and hd-dvd were purchased used. Saved me a ton of money. I also auditioned a LOT of equipment, especially speakers.

I live in on a street that is fiber fed. I could get up tp 15 mb service, 6 is plenty for me. I am very happy with uverse. It has a lot of neat fetures and excellent pq. I am also very happy with my oppo pj. It puts out a very solid image for a small 720p unit.

That's why I asked. You know how cameras can fool the eye. I could see that you did your homework with how well you installed the AV plates and the equipment you choose. So again very nice system.

Thanks for the compliment. I hope it did not come off as if I was offended by your comments.

Even though I've admired your space for great audio, design in personal comfort, and a source of inspiration, it was only now that I watched your YouTube video. Well done.
The hint of pride in your voice is well justified. Your a true enthusiast.
I might add that you have an unusually good speaking voice for that sort of thing. I'd be afraid to hear what I sounded like .
Thank you for posting your efforts,

Why thankyou. My wife thinks I should do voice over work, I laugh at that. An enthusiast is a good way to discribe me. I have loved listening to music from as early as I can remember.

I just watched your youtube video, gives a good perspective on your setup, one that pics don't always get across. I'm sure you are very pleased with how it sounds.

I moved the equipment rack into a dedicated closet. I had a fan in the furnace room but it still got pretty warm in there so I figured I better move it.

Having just watched your video, got to say really impressive setup. The screen size in relation to overall setup looks perfect to me. Many people settle for too small screens, which is a pity I think. Also the server room looks pretty cool. hehe. nice work bro.

Put new socks and endcaps on the bpvx's to match the mains. Will be ordering some cherry caps for the center.

Very very nice Bartman, gotta love the Macintosh amps The bar area looks very nice as well.. something i aim to have in the future. Would love to see some more wide angle photos as they might give a wider perspective of how the room looks like.

Made a few changes, mainly the Carvers up front. Great speakers. Picked up some Dyns for smaller scale 2 channel listening but I have to say they sound bigger than they look. Great, tight bass and nice mids/highs. I will work on cleaning up the wiring in the back of the room.

I just got done watching The Rush Time Machine blu-ray all the way through. It reminded me why I put the time, effort and cash into assembling a pretty decent system. I love going to concerts (I was at this one when it was filmed) and seeing it as home was almost as good as being there. Just had to put that out there.

I installed an optoma hd33 to replace my hd65. I know 3d isn't everyones cup of tea but I gotta say I'm liking it. Watched the Hubble Imax movie, very cool. Started to watch The Green Hornet. There is an explosion that sends debris flying over your head as the sounds comes through the side surrounds. I know 3d is a novelty that could go the way of sacd but no regrets.

Hey, Greg! For some reason I've missed this thread, and I just got finished watching your youtube video. NOW I have a good idea of your room layout...perfect place to hang out. Hope you're enjoying your Optoma; I've resisted the 3D lure so far since I enjoy my Anthem LTX500 so much, and my daughters hate wearing the 3D glasses anyway. If I get the urge, I'll watch a 3D movie on my desktop 24" monitor by myself, but I'm sure the surround sound would help with the impact that much more. The 3D projector is one thing that my wife actually stated "please don't buy a 3D projector", so since I invested in the Revel Salon2's and Voice2 this year, I'll have to honor her request.

Anyway, loved the video and I've always loved your gear...just haven't touched base in awhile. Hope you're not as busy this year with the milder weather and can enjoy your room more.

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. And I'm not sure about the universe. -- Albert Einstein

Thanks for checking in Keith, good to hear from you. Your wife has been very good about your purchases so that's a reasonable request. I know 3d is a novelty but so far it's been fun, something different. The salon 2's are on my must hear list, I'll bet they are fantastic. I like my carvers a lot but always on the prowl. Work is still busy but my toys cost money so there you go. Take it easy....

Made a few changes. Got the Marantz AV8801 so added high/wide speakers. Probably not ideal having them on the same plane but with the room layout I didn't have much choice. Worked out pretty good all in all.
