Here are a couple of better pics of the room. We added a Comfy Sack, which is very comfy but huge. It's not for everyone but we like it. The front is now subless and the SVS is "hid" in the back corner.

Anthem MRX 500 has arrived to replace my Yamaha RX-V863. Looking foward to running ARC and hearing what it can do. Pics to come.

Is there any acoustic treatment in the room, or just the furniture and rug? The furniture looks like it would do a decent job.

wow, nice!! Loving the Mirage. In my opinion, the OMD-C2 is one of the best looking center out there, in fact the whole line up is.

Hope you let us know your impression of the Anthem and ARC.

cheers

No treatments yet but they are in the plans. Hope to start with 2 behind the front L and R. Then maybe in the rear corners and possibly on the side wall. Some sort of art print or the coffee bag ones for that.

Yeah I like the look of the Mirage as well. It's really what intially drew me to them. ARC is great! My system sounds better than ever. Very happy with it so far.

One other thing. Those Mirages are omnidirectional, are they not? If so, perhaps they would like reflections. My M3-sis are bipolar, and the manual speaks of keeping side and rear walls clear of objects which would affect dispersion. That may factor into how your acoustic treatment goes.

I have too much stuff in my room and am pretty sure the soundstage depth is affected negatively, as both side and rear walls have stuff on them.

I have asked that question, about the omnipolar needing reflection points, and have had mixed answers. I did read that if the speakers are within 3 to 6 feet from the wall behind the speakers or sidewalls that treatments could be used to help with room gain or to tone down the boomy bass, something to that effect anyway. I could definitly use some behind my speakers, only a foot off the wall, but not sure about the side wall. I have plenty of room there. I only have 1 sidewall because the other side is open to the dining room/kitchen. I thought the rear corners to help with the standing low freq. waves. That is just from what I've read I'm just not sure if it's needed. Only 1 way to find out I guess and that's to try some, so I may get a couple to put behind my front L and R and go from there if necassary.
Thoughts on that.

Finally added something to the wall. It's been bare for almost 4 years. Also added some curtains over the french doors, you can see those to the right of the pic, and added blackout liners to both sets of curtains. Makes it pretty dark in the room. PJ is a good possibility in the future now.smile.gif

Added some acoustic panels. I haven't hung them up yet and I have one for the center channel. The color of them matches the couch and chair and when the lights are out, or just the lamp on, they blend in nicely with the wall color.

Looking good!! I'm a recent acoustic treatment convert, so seeing others with treatments gets me excited. Did you notice a significant difference by shifting the height of the panels?

I can't say that I did but I only had them propped up for a couple of days and not a lot of listening time with them.

Audioguy is a great guy. Maybe the next time you come down my way we can see if we can arrange a GTG at his place. And if we do be prepared to be blown away by the guy and his system. biggrin.gif

Hello SS....those panels look as good in person as they do in your photos. I want to thank you for letting me into your home yesterday. It was a great time sitting around talking HT and playing around with your HT system. cool.gifsmile.gif

Thanks John, We will have to do that again sometime this year. So Happy New Years and may you finally find the perfect subwoofer setup this year. Even though what you have right now is not to shabby...with the right tweaks. wink.gifbiggrin.gif

I just tried to buy another one from Josh but someone else got it before I could say yes for sure. I was trying for another GTG this weekend if I could have gotten the money up in time. I still think I will add another Plus unless I say screw it and go for a SubM F2.eek.gif

I really like that panel behind the center speaker. I was planning on ordering a custom sized one for my setup but was a bit reluctant on how it would look. Now that I see yours I am definitely inspired. Keep up the great work!
