Okay, I thought with the original position of my ceiling speakers, vertical/flat with about a 2.5" tilt up, it sounded good but I felt it was lacking somewhere. I had mentioned before, I was getting a lot of action in the back of the room (Ha! that sounds funny). But I wasn't really getting the front overhead effect I was really wanting or thinking would be there. It was there but I thought it could be better. So I did some tinkering last night and re-angled the ceiling speakers as shown in the pictures.

EDIT: The on-ceiling speakers are not pointing straight down. They are slightly tilted into the listening area.

With my new angles I went straight for chapter 20 in TF4. What a HUGE difference in sound this made!!! I now have that complete "dome" sound and it is very very impressive. The front and back ceiling speakers are completely even in sound. I didn't think it would have made this much difference but I am sure glad I tried.

Such a great setup! So, do you somehow switch between your on-ceilings and your front wide + heights now?

Love the setup! I can't wait to hear an Atmos home demo. Down here in Austin I don't think any exist yet.

I'm curious whether you evaluated in ceiling versus on ceiling options from Golden Ear. If so, what pushed you towards on wall / on ceiling.

Also, have you heard the Triton 1's? Itching to upgrade from the 2's? Or is that not really a consideration (given you have such an amazing system as it is)?.

Thank you!! No, I actually took my front heights down last weekend. It look a little ridiculous with all those speakers on the walls

I am sure I will find some other place to use them

EDIT: I still have the wides set up. I can switch from Dolby Surround to NEO:X but I have only been using Dolby Surround for everything, it's that good!!

I am hoping one day soon I will be able to use the wides with at least Dolby Atmos. Fingers crossed.

Thank you!!!!

I was going to go with in-ceiling at first but they weren't going to work with my beveled ceiling. They would've been too much in the middle of the room.

BUT I am very glad I went with on-ceiling and not in-ceiling. I was able to adjust them by toeing them in at the main listing position which made a huge difference, than when they were pointing straight down. And I have the freedom to move them around if I want and not stuck with 7" holes in my ceiling if I wanted to experiment.

Funny you ask about the Triton 1's. I placed my ordered yesterday after battling with myself for over a month. My dealer is giving me a great trade in offer and didn't want to pass it up.

If you are ever in the Dallas area, I would be happy to let you come and listen.

Thanks again!!

If anybody is still following I took some new photos over the Thanksgiving break, which are on the first post of the first page.

Here is a brief summary of the things I have added in the past few months:

I traded in my Triton 2's for Triton 1's which was a great choice. Everything you have read about the Triton 1's are true, well the positive stuff. Just incredible speakers for music and movies. Well done GoldenEar!

I traded in my black Xbox one and PS4 for white ones. I love the look.

Atmos and Dolby Surround!!! That's all I need to say about that.

Thanks for looking!!

Still following as well. Your theater is pretty much what I want to do when I get my second house, gotta move into a starter home first! Excellent job and thanks for taking the time out to share the journey.

Thanks for posting the updated pictures! It really looks amazing!

Sorry if this has been answered earlier in the thread, but a question about the room treatments.. They look great. Are they DIY or did you get help from a Pro to determine the best layout / materials etc?

The Triton Ones have gotten very good reviews. You must be pleased.

Did you try them without the subs, and if so how did that work? They're supposed to go down to 14Hz, but speaker placement and sub placement can be two different things as I understand it.

Thank you!! I bought them all through ATS Acoustics and installed them all myself. I started with just the lower row (they were a little higher). Then I decided to do a second higher row and had to move the original lower row down. I just placed them symmetrically and to my liking.

I really wanted to do some bass traps but I don't have enough room. I did what I thought was the next best thing, used the 4" treatments for all four corners of the room.

Hey Prepress!! Yes, I love the Triton Ones very much and I would have to agree with all the reviews.

Well my room is really funny with any kind of bass up front. Don't get me wrong I get good bass from the One's up front but not to their full potenial. This is why my subs are in the back corners of the room. When they are up front, there is zero bass from them.

BUT the One's sound amazing with my SVS subs!!! They both give me the sound I have been after for about 5 years of trying.
