Sorry about the lack of pictures. I'll get some up after I move (only a few weeks left!)

Putting most of this stuff down in the basement for starters but I'm leaning towards doing the projector thing within the first year -- leaning towards the BenQ W1100 right now. The Epson 8350 seems nice too but I really like the "warmth" of the BenQ DLP.

You'd love the W1100. Have you gotten it yet? If you have how are you liking it?

I Love Apple, BenQ, Samsung, and Acer Products = )

I just moved earlier this week so I haven't even got the old stuff setup yet. Truth be told, after reading coderguy's projector roundup post I'm starting to lean towards the Mitsubishi HC4k. Will the difference in ANSI lumens be noticeable between that and the W1100 though?

Hi Icchan, sorry for the late reply.

Yes, the W1100 would have a significant 1 leg up in the lumen division. Think about it. Although manufacturer's inflate ANSI lumen numbers, you're talking about 700 difference on box specs.

The HC4000 is a great projector no doubt, but it's great in a HT room, where it's dark and you can benefit greatly out of its superior black levels. However, if you like to operate in a more lit environment or like a lit environment such as myself when it comes to sports night and what not, the HC4000 may not be your fit. You'll need a brighter projector. The W1100 is considered one of the brighter entry level 1080p projectors. BenQ has always been known to deliver brighter than average projectors. Also you still get a 4x color wheel, high contrast ratio. Read Coderguy's review, he calls the W1100 the sharpest projector. Sharper than HC4000. It'd be great for games & sports. It's got onboard speakers if you ever want to make it portable or bring it to a friends house.

However, if you're planning to fix your projector and leave it on a mount and have a very well light controlled environment (dark) and mostly use it for movies. I would honestly suggest you to go with the HC4000. However if you're into other areas, and like a lit environment, W1100 for sure!

However, best bet would be to purchase from a retailer or online store with easy returns, no restocking fee, and they carry both models so you could always return one if you realize it's not a fit for you.

I did end up with the Mitsubishi HC4000.

My theatre room has no windows and the ceiling pot lights are on a dimmer so I do have controlled light conditions.

So far I'm impressed with the device, but less than thrilled with my supplier. The projector, mount, and screen were all sent in separate shipments instead of being batched. This caused all kinds of headaches with FedEx.

Are you satisfied with the HC4000's brightness? A projector's brightness is also variable based on each individual's personal preference.

Even without the screen I'm quite satisfied yes.

Attached is a cellphone camera picture of the current state of my "man cave". Somewhat embarassed that I don't have it set up yet, but I've kinda lost my nerve of late.

The Image B4 seems like the perfect choice to match up with what you have.
