As an old guy who remembers tiny black-and-white TVs in the 1950's, I find that it's quite a thrill to put together an HDTV home theater system. At the same time, old retired guys like me can't spend a lot of extra dollars on entertainment systems when living on fixed incomes and part time work. So this is the system I put together, and it's been great fun to try it out. More work remains, but wow - what a difference from Howdy Doody and Freedie Fryhoffer! I can't wait to see what they will come up with next.

Components
Denon AVR 590
Samsung BD-D6500 blu-ray
Samsung PN64-D7000 plasma HDTV
BDI Novia 8429-2 home theater cherry cabinet
RocketFish RF-WHTIB wireless rear speaker system
BA Horizon MCS-90 5.1 surround speakers
Bose 161 rear surround speakers
old JVC RX-150 receiver to power rear surround speakers

bslocum nice setup BUT the HT bug will get you. Around 18 years ago I started out with a HTIB a Zenith setup and gradually upgraded audio and video components which I sold to my neighbors and now 25k later I have my setup. You will find a way to upgrade. It is a fun hobby.

Ahh good stuff there! Home theatre can be a very entertaining hobby! And costly at times lol

No subwoofer I've heard has been able to produce the bass I've experienced in the Corps!

Must..stop...buying...every bluray release...

All you need to do is purchase a really high end sound bar and a nice subwoofer. Just sit that TV on top of your sound bar and it will be Wife approved.

X-Box Live name: OGgamer1974

If you want to be friends on through xbox network, just send me a request through X-Box Live and mention AVS in the request.

Cheers
