Like the equipment room and that all your gear is hidden and also easily accessible too.

How high is your screen off the floor and how do you like the viewing angle? From pictures is looks low, but viewing on my phone too.

Let's see. Active Linn speakers and 2 SVS subs. Treated room, Equipment out of the room(wish I could do that). Nice size 4k screen. Fully treated. Server running the system. I think that about covers it smile.gif. That is a great room. I hope you really enjoy it.

Two more shots of the room. Both are shot in the day - the curtains are doing a good job keeping the room dark.

Thanks smile.gif

It is really a great room to watch movies in. Very satisfied with the end result. The size of the screen gives IMAX feeling, but with the better aspect ratio of 2.37:1 of course :-)

ADA Suite 7.1HD and the 1x MR1 source - the heart of the cinema. Making sure that movies play without sync issues or stutter. And very involving.

Recently updated the system to 7.1 with four JBL 8140A speakers. Very satisfied with the surround sound now!

The subs are also replaced. Now I use two PC13 Ultra DSP and two SVS Legato subs with external amp.

Why do guys with incredible home theaters (meaning yours JaJo) never post enough photos??
Come on man, we want to see more. Behind the screen, the wiring, etc, etc...

I still can't get over how close it seems you are sitting to that monster size screen. Movies must be really immersive. How far are you sitting from that screen? Wait a second. JUST WAIT A DAMN SECOND. Am I reading your system link correctly where you say your screen is 164 in eek.gifeek.gifeek.gif. Now I have to know again how far you sit from that screen. I forget how far away it was, but the biggest screen I can remember seeing was a friends theater who has a 120in screen, That seemed massive to me. Yours must be just out of this world. Almost like an IMAX.

Hi!

Distance from the screen is approx 4m. So yes, it is very immersive. Really looking forward to 4K. You can clearly see the limits of 1080p from that distance if you are looking for it, but it is not distracting from enjoying the movie.

I basically just bought the biggest screen I could fit on the wall because I don't want to have the feeling that I could have had a bigger one. You quickly adapt to a bigger size and want more... I sometimes see amazing home theatres with great sound but the screen could be much bigger. That is a pity, imho.

So you are about 13ft away from a 164" 2.37 screen. DAMN. That's what I call immersive. I am sure the picture looks great and that your sound is great also. If I can toot my own audio horn, I think that I represent that last sentence you wrote, only I am going to see if I can upgrade my video a little. I think at my distance, something like a 70" 2.35 screen would really be impressive. Your room looks really wide so your screen looks great. My room is only 9.5 feet wide and 12.5 feet deep and I would be about 8 feet to the screen. We shall see. But again, you have a fantastic setup.

Some updates in my theatre!

Recently added the MiniDSP DDRC-88A with Dirac to my cinema with great results. It took some time to find the best target curve (the defaults were waaay to bass heavy for my taste and the treble was cut too hard) but now it sounds awesome.

Current equipment list:
  • Custom built movie player
  • ADA Suite 7.1 HD
  • MiniDSP DDRC-88A room correction
  • NuForce MCH-3SE-C7 7-channel amplifier
  • 3 x M&K S-150MKII L-C-R
  • 4 x JBL 8340A surround + rear speakers
  • SVS PC13 Ultra subwoofer
  • 2 x SVS Legato balancing subwoofers
  • SVS AS-EQ1 subwoofer amplifier
  • 163" 2.37:1 Screen Excellence Enlightor4K screen
  • Sony VPL-VW500ES projector

Nice upgrades all around.
Man that room still looks killer. You have all top notch gear. But you what I am going say , so you went from 164in to 163in. How could you ever live with the size difference . Just kidding, with that screen and projector, I am sure it looks insane. But I still can't get over the size. I haven't seen many screens that are bigger.

So you like that Mini DSP with Dirac? Your ADA didn't have RC did. If not, I am sure that adding Dirac made a big improvement. Thanks for making me jealous again.

You have a perfect setup IMO. I will be trying to setup up something nearly identical to this next year and I'd love your input. Maybe save me a mistake or two along the way. If you don't mind I have a few questions.

1.What are the dimensions of your room?

2.Would you recommend the JBL 3677's now that you've had them a while?

3. How did you/what did you use to make your black ceiling?

4. What curtains did you use on the walls, and how are they hung?

Thanks,

Alex

Amazing room! I too have a my speakers behind a transparent screen like yours that takes up most the front at 150 inches.

I am curious how you like the JBLs as I have M&K 5000 and was thinking about maybe trying the JBL 3677.
