Hi all, I registered on here quite a while ago and have been drooling over the systems i've seen! So I thought it was time to share my cinema room with you all. It doesn't come close to some i've seen but i'm happy with it!

The room I have the system in is the master bedroom, whilst it's not a massive room it does do the job. It's not completely finished yet as I still have some work to do with the cabling but I am in the process of making a few changes, mainly adding front wide speakers and still trying to find the best place for the subwoofer as I feel the sub is one of the hardest things to position and get right in a home cinema.

UPDATE: At the end of October 2013 my 5508 processor decided to finish itself off with the dreaded well known Onkyo HDMI board failure. I then contacted Genserve here in the UK and my unit was sent off for repair. I was without it for just over a month and every time I rang them to find out the progress of the repair, I was always being told that the part was on order. I then decided to have a rant and after many phone calls I got a brand new TX-NR 5010 receiver as a replacement which is still being used to this day and I love it!

Another small update is that I have my MK M5's on wall brackets (well just one at the moment, the other side I'm going to build a stand, see pic) for front wides and they sound excellent. Also I have painted the ceiling a liquorice black to reduce reflection from the projector screen which has made a huge difference!

On to the equipment list:

JVC X-30 Projector
94" Seymour Centre Stage XD AT Screen

3 x MK IW95 for front LCR housed in a false wall behind the screen
2 x MK M4T's for side/rears
2 x MK M5's for surround backs (but now being used for front wides which are temporary at the moment until I get some wall brackets)
1 x MK SB1250 Subwoofer

Onkyo 5500 9 Channel Power Amp
Onkyo 5508 Processor (suffered an HDMI board failure and was replaced with a Onkyo TX-NR 5010 Receiver)
Oppo 93 Blu Ray Player

Virgin Tivo Box

Logitech 1100 Remote

Futronix P100 Dimmer Switch

Thanks for looking and any comments or suggestions on how I could improve things would be very welcome!

have you tried using the sub in the false wall? I would think the sub would sound boomy in that rear corner

Hi, the false wall is only 11 inches deep so the only thing I could do is put the sub in front which I probably will do as another experiment. Believe it or not where the sub is now, it doesn't sound boomy at all really however it doesn't sound that bassy either so again it was purely an experiment.

Hi there, the room is 12ft x 14ft into a bay window so it's not huge. If you look at the first picture with the screen the bay window is to the right of it.

Looks good, I like the MK speakers. Don't see them too much anymore. Once you get the rear cables managed the room will look really good.. Thanks for sharing, welcome to the club! smile.gif

Many thanks. MK speakers are a pretty big hit over here in the UK and I'm glad I discovered them. With regards to the rear cables, instead of channeling the wall out for them I'm thinking of incorporating them into acoustic wall panels as the room is attached to my next door neighbour so there are times that I have to be 'moderate' with the volume level! And the problem I've found with joining the club is that its very, very expensive but I love it all the same!

Hi JT, thank you very much smile.gif It is a good size room although I would like a dedicated room at some point in the future but at the moment I'm making the best use of what I have.

How far are the surrounds to your seat? Is it too close?

They're about a foot and half away from the listening position. Although it does seem a little close, it's just right as I've also positioned them about a foot above the listening position so the sound doesn't blast you straight in the ear! I've also turned the level of them down a touch in the settings on my 5508.

Thanks very much! I'd love to have bigger speakers but i'm not sure my neighbours would agree with it! I'm hoping to start work on Atmos soon which will be a bit fiddly with regards to the cabling but I like a challenge!

I haven't been on here in a long time but during that time I have made some changes. I sold my MK SB1250 subwoofer and I now run dual MK V12 subs. Also I've added 4 MK M5 speakers for Dolby Atmos duties. I've replaced my Onkyo receiver with a Denon X7200 which sounds amazing. I'll be adding more pictures soon.
