Hi I have just signed up, thought I would make my first post an intro and thank you for having me - Although i would consider myself quite experienced in many AV areas, when it comes to online socialising I am somewhat of a hermit crab! My skill-set coupled with the ease of finding help\answers to any problems by search engines without having to ask in forums has slowly but surely made me very isolated and lonely where my internet social life is concerned! frown.gif

I look to change this by joining a good forumsmile.gif where i can not only learn and discuss things but also provide info\help where I can and gain new friends\contacts. Never been a fan of facebook or the likes but have been craving to be part of a more behind the scenes community such as AVS cool.gif

brief background:-

When the 2 managers fell out and at great financial risk, I took over lease of computer repair shop where i was working doing most of the real work. Owners were 2 asian blokes* who's english speaking skills were no better than their almost laughable knowledge of repairing pcs and laptops, basically complete cowboys. after a year I had financially broke even and was making a good profit, then completely out of the blue my plans and hard work went down the toilet by ways of a very scary letter from the inland revenue eek.gif. Basically this was due to the previous owners dishonesty with tax among other things, dumping it on oblivious me and bailing out, probably leaving the country mad.gif- long(er) story short i had to shut down and call it a day

Currently i am working from home, not half as convenient but still have a good number of customers, word of mouth by ways of happy customers to their friends\family etc has been essential. Hope i haven't gone OTT with the background info wink.gif

Well anyway at risk of giving my full life story,(killing members with boredom is frowned upon here im guessing), I shall say thanks again for having me, I look forward to being involved as a member

current setup:-

Lappy
Compaq presario laptop- Intel Core 2 - 4gb DDR2 - All the usual trimmings

A rather basic PC setup, back when AMD64 chips were leading the way, i had spent in excess of £1500 on building a media pc. Since then the MOBO blew up (it done very well after 2+ years of some extreme overclocking, amd64 cpu still works!) and have never real time to rebuild, just flung together parts in the original atx case, good enough for general needs:-

PC
Thermaltake Soprano ATX case, Intel core 2, 6gb ram, win7 x64, ASROCK mobo (one of the best budget boards i have dealt with) also use linux allot, dabble with various bistros

Saved the best till last, entertainment setup:-

Entertainment
42" LG LED 1080p 100hz (hooked up to PC, and lappy on occasion) - Got this for £440 reduced from £660, Back in February Currys\PC World selling remaining stock cheap nationwide due to lack of ports design flaw (brilliant tv apart from this) - only 2 hdmi ports, 1 hd component , 1 sd component, 1 scart and no vga ports

PS3 Slim
XBOX 360 (needs new dvd drive tbh rolleyes.gif )

My likes include (apocalyptic\scary-suspense\etc)SCI-FI movies\games among many other things

*Please note im not an ignorant racist in any way (on the contrary i am an open minded person) and have nothing against Asian people, i only mentioned their nationality to emphasise the great communication problem that existed!
