Wow, that's a really impressive setup you have... no words...

The 200 SACDs are also impressive, what genre of music are you mostly into?

Wow! That is what I would imagine it would look like if Captain Nemo were to set up a home theater!

Classical Symphonies primarily and some Chamber music on MCH SACS.

But I also listen to about 1TB of music from all genres, Rock, New Age, Spanish Guitar, Brazilian, French, Movie Sound Tracks, not much Jazz except if you call Erin McCarley, Bebel Gilberto, Jem, Giulia y Los Tellarini, Devil Doll, Carla Bruni and Sade Jazz!

When the kids take over it's the usual top 50!!

WSE, I am very impressed with you set up. Magnificent!!!

I have been following your purchase of Marantz SR 7009 and 7.1.4 set up using KEF LS 50. I have also read the posts on using three of the same speakers for LCR duties. I am not in a position to hide speakers behind a screen and I want to go with three identical speakers across the front for 5.1 system. I was thinking of the new reference one as a splurge for LCR with 2 LS 50 as rear or possibly 5 LS 50. A few questions for you:

1. Do you have any pictures of the LS 50 speakers in your room? Are you using stands?
2. Your two systems are not comparable, but if your were to compare, how does the LS 50 sound as compared to the B&Ws?
3. Are you thinking of getting a separate amp. Do you have enough power from the Marantz?

Thanks

Thank you for the kind comments.

I need to take pictures and post them.

The rooms are very different, I like both system

B&W room is a multifunction room 18 x 20 x 10 with very large windows.

The dynamic levels that I can reach in that B&W room are much higher than in the KEF room.

The KEF room is small 11 x 13 x 9 with a smaller window and wood shutters.

In the KEF room I love being six feet away from the speakers the sound is phenomenal.

I might buy a separate amp, may me the Classe Sigma or the new NAD M27!

Obviously a nice setup. Have you taken measurements and, if so, where are they posted? I would be very interested to see how all that nice equipment performs in an REW analysis.

I had it professionally calibrated and at the end thought it was too flat! There goes $500

So you haven't taken measurements yourself, or you were not supplied measurments by the professional installer? Sorry, I don't mean to pressure you, but if I had that much money invested in my system, I would want to make sure it was performing optimally.

Ok here you are that was with the old 802D, also that was with only two surround speakers, I replaced them with four 802Diamonds

So I might have to do that again, anyone interested?

After shows significant improvement. Is this reflecting the work of the professional calibrator. Looks pretty good. Thanks for sharing.

I am not perticularly interested in measurement updates if the only thing that changed was the surrounds. IMO it is only the response of the front three speakers, combined with the subs of course, that is of interest.

Yes for what it's worth it was very flat and without life

I treated the ceiling and that made a huge difference! The front of the room has changed so I need to recalibrate, I am planning to buy a $200 PC and use REW so I can do it myself

Great, great system and room! These types of system configurations inspires and motivates me to step up my game! I like that you've deployed a Classe stack as I have a Classe SSP-600 (the best that I can do now) and Krell amplification. For better system synergy I want to one day add a Classe amp and possibly move up to the SSP-800.

WSE, that's impressive. Regardless of funds, can tell a lot of time, thought went into it.

After seeing your Oppo 105 , just got the 103 D two days ago to try before the 105. Is the biggest gain in DAC's, DSP, audio processing and quality? Wouldn't think there would be much room for improvement on video.

WSE, your setup is in a class by itself, truly incomprehensible. I am not one to talk, but I want to help. I was thinking how you could make some improvements, (tongue in cheek).

1. Your room looks so good, bright, warm, love the wood. I think amber accent pieces might add just a little bit. I mean, you would go from "classic" to "opulent" It doesn't cost that much. I think it would work for you.

2. Wires. Obviously you planned this meticulously. Why the wires? Just saying. You put down tile. I suspect you have a concrete floor. At the level you are, in development, how hard would it have been to trench the floor and provide runners to each speaker? I suspect it's too late, the tile is already down. But I just wonder what your thoughts are on the floor.

Thank you for sharing, it's very stimulating, a real beauty.
