Change of mind about Prometheus.. It was on sale a while back and bought it. the 3D was stellar! Better than in the theater! Moody, atmospheric, and involving. I gave Prometheus a second chance and I'm glad i did!

"Oz The Great and Powerful", although dull as a movie was a gorgeous example of 3D filmmaking. "The Great Gatsby" is due out 8/27/13 and that was terrific 3D. At issue, however, is that US audiences have become disenchanted with 3D because of various factors including ridiculous theater up charges, uninspiring conversions, weak stories. In China, 3D remains very popular so hopefully, we'll still see more 3D product here in the Us.

Added note. Purchased Prometheus 3D in Blu ray and it was spectacular and so much better than my local digital cinema's presentation. I'm finding that my local movie theater's presentations are starting to dim and lose focus 4-5 years post their digital conversions.

I have about 30 3D movies and my best effect so far has been the ash falling in Avatar. I had to wipe it off myself. I hate that a couple of the writers in S&V mag. put down 3D as a dying thing and waste of time.

im with you on that one. Its the best all around imo too. It gets dinged for not being natively filmed in it....but honestly what's it matter if native or not as long as the end result holds up??

I agree 100%, excellent use of 3D, most natural 3D of any movie.
It is just... REAL.

Agree with Star Trek Into Darkness. It's my new go-to 3D demo material.

I have this 3D title in my Blu-ray collection, but have not watched it yet.
Just got a brand new BenQ w1080st 3D DLP projector.
Getting ready for the NCAA and NFL football seasons to start.

I saw Star Trek Into Darkness in 2D, a while back, on a flat panel with a 60" screen.
The whole time I was thinking to myself, I bet this would look great in 3D.
Now I can't wait to "experience" it blown up to 150."

It didn't exist in 2012 when the original list was created...

Scorpions 3d is worthy of best 3d concert. In the song "Blackout", there is a smoke generator on a guitar and the smoke comes out of the screen as they jam!
That is my demo piece, along with the good sound.
I also like the Lion King 3d .

Another vote for Star Trek Into Darkness. Best home 3D that I own, even over Prometheus.

Second that. I can't imagine that movie being nearly as entertaining in 2D.

Imax Under the Sea is awesome, Titanic is surprisingly good.

I recently found it on sale at amazon (prime) for less than $13 if you need to own it.

Grow milkweed. The Monarch Butterfly requires it, and its numbers are dwindling fast.
