as the FAQ in the first post mentions, this disc is not designed to be played as-is. it is only a data disc full of jpegs. you use the raw materials on the disc to build your own pre-show slideshow...

To CBRich,

Yes, I replied using that email to say your disc had shipped, but it bounced back.

To the bland,

Why would I need to make a Blu-ray version?

As my explanation just two posts above your post says, it is not designed to be played as-is. It is only a data disc full of jpegs. You use the raw materials on the disc to build your own pre-show slideshow...

For everyone who has requested a disc the past week or so... your discs have been mailed out. Considering the high mail volume for the holidays, they may take a couple of extra days to arrive.

For anyone else who is interested, PM me.

I ordered your slides and I am very please. So that I can give back to the people here, I have made a zip file with a lot of movie clips that people are having a hard time finding...

these clips include, old ads, drive-in ads, intermission ads, etc.
I also included 2 .blend files that you can edit with Blender to make your own custom Fox and Touchstone pictures animation. I take no credit for the .blend files but thank the person that made them. The Fox one has the fix so that you dont get the flickering that a lot of people were getting. I have an eye for detail

These are fantastic and bring me back to the old myHTPC days.

What does everyone use to create their slideshows? I am contemplating creating a TuneKit powered slideshow. Of course, I suck at coding/scripting and javascript so it may take me awhile to figure out. Though I could then create a playlist with my AppleTV to show the pre-movie then the movie.

If I go to a standard method and create a DVD, what are you folks using to generate the slideshow? Is it automated or brute force (just add the slides one by one)?

god, the default forum colors are migraine inducing

I'm using XBMC and the "Home Theater Experience" script. You can configure a duration for the slideshow and several options for intro/outro videos, streaming or local movie trailers, etc. before the main feature. Once everything is configured it's one button to launch and you get a different slideshow each time (although I do shuffle the trivia directories around depending on the audience and the film being shown.)

The author is updating the script to better handle a random mixing of paired Q&A slides along with the single slides; as it stands you have to rename the single slides into pairs to not break the sequence.

Glad everyone is still finding these useful. And welcome to the folks who have heard about these being talked about at the XBMC forums.

For everyone who has requested a disc this past week, the last ones will be in the mail tomorrow.

As for me, I've just picked up a Insignia (Best Buy's in-house brand) wireless network Blu-ray player. I've hooked up an external hard drive to it via USB and it plays music, photos and videos in many formats and in 1080p.

I had a WD HD media player, but I think I'll retire it for this one device solution.

As my first post of this thread states, I have no intention of making my work available for download. Forum members have for many years now honored my wishes and obtained these slides for their own private home use by ordering them on a disc by mail via Paypal...

More details are contained in the first post of this thread.

Exactly. My 8 year old daughter is a huge Harry Potter fan, has read all the books multiple times, etc. She got one of the movies for xmas so we did a special trivia session for her before screening the movie with some family in town. She got to show off a little, nailed most of the questions, and it made for a really special night for everyone.
