I am very interested in getting the 13174 model online but blind buying scares me. A local store has the 45090 but only in curved config. I need straight. Are these chairs pretty much identical? If I were to go sit in the 45090, could I expect it to feel exactly like the 13174 would?

I heard the 174s have a low back but I'm the tallest in our family towering in at 5'7 so thats not a concern. I would love for some input here to put my fears of blind buying at ease.

The 13174 is the import version of the 45090. They are basically identical chairs, but the 13174 is a little (very little) bit more firm in my opinion. The spec sheets say the backs are both 41", but the 13174 measures slightly lower (at least the one we have here). But as you said, that won't be a concern for you at your height. In fact, that would be an advantage.

In our experience the import seats are not the same quality as their domestic counterparts. The leather, padding and recline mechanisms are different. Comparing apples to apples the domestic 45090 is a better quality theater seat.

As said here the 13174 is an imported version of the 45090. I will offer my take on this topic based on my personal opinion and experience:

1. I do not feel that the 13174 is firmer then the 45090s - they are about the same in terms of softness. Comparing to other imported groups the 13174 and 12003 would be the softest ones.
2. It seats about 1/5" lower because of the different reclining mechanism that Berkline used on the imported groups. They used proprietor reclining mech. on their domestic groups (including the 45090), and it had higher seating.
3. I also do not feel that the 45090s are of any better quality then the 13174s. I actually had more problems with the domestic groups comparing to the imported ones. I would only have gone with the domestic group if I needed some customization in terms of configuration, cover, options, and that would have come with the higher price tag. I strongly believe that the 13174 was/is a better value.

Regarding the height - if you are 5'7" I would recommend checking out the 12006 instead. This chair will provide a nice head support without blocking your surround sound. The 13174s may work as well, though.

I prefer the bigger size of the 147. I want the bigger armrests. I was able to sit in the 13175 and i loved the feel but hated the footrest. Im going to try the 090 tomorrow. Hopefully it will feel good and ill order the 174s online.

The 13174s have similar base and feel as 45187 or 12003, which is an imported version of the 45094. The 45094 is pretty much the 45187 with storage compartments and trays that can be mounted on top of the armrest. The 12003 is 44" high back recliner though, and for 5'7" tall person is too high, unless you do not care about surround sound.

The 13174 can work, as I mentioned before...

For those who have the 13174 how is the build quality?

At 5'9" and my wife is at 5'5", are they well suited? For those with the Brown leather or have seen it how did you like it?

Worth another $150 a chair for the Fusion Lagoon Bonded over this in leather?

How do the Lane 222's compare to these?

Lane 222 would be better to compare with Berkline 45094 - pretty much the same chair.
