I'm looking for a mount that holds the TV approx .5" to 1" from the wall, but can pull straight out (only needs to pull out 1" - 2") and then be pushed back in to .5" - 1" from the wall. My TV is 58 inches and is plasma (weighs more than LED/LCD). I don't care about swivel capability or tilt capability.

Any suggestions?

We're putting travertine around the column the TV hangs. We're going to line the TV with the travertine and rather than trying to buy a mount that holds the TV the exact depth from the wall (with the travertine depth added), I'd like to find one with a little "play". Basically can go from .5" to 2". This way I've got some wiggle room. Anything like this out there?

Chief makes a mount with a recessded box it closes flush to the wall and travels quite far out but will meet your needs. We use it all the time it mounts to the studs direct.
