So I just read a great thread about custom intro dvd's. it talked about cinema wise selling a $50 DVD and everyone raved!!!! There were 2 other places that were $90-$200 talked about. The thread was from 03 and two of those places don't even exist anymore. Is there a place as much raved about and as affordable as cinema wise.com? That is still around?

Wow, '03. That's a while ago. LOL.
I think these intros are the same from both websites.

http://www.stargatecinema.com/custom-movie-intro-dvds/

http://www.htmarket.com/perdvdhomthe.html

Here are some $29 and up intros.
Ooops, their intros are currently unavailable.

Here is a strange webpage about "Cinemawise" from "masterseek".

Any other sites out there?

Maybe someone on the board does some kind of custom intro dvd, and they can offer up their services for some wood?

Sadly, there really hasn't been anything new in intro DVDs for a while (at least as far as I know). There was a company call Bitstream Animation that was around for a while and doing some nice things but they are no longer in existence. If anyone knows of anything new or exciting please post here.

I can recommend the Stargate Cinema website. I had completely forgotten about that website but about 10 or 12 years ago my wife had the "City Cinema" Custom Intro DVD created for me hence why the website shows The Samples Cinema on it.. That was the one created for us.

I'm not sure why you'd want one? Would this just be something that you play before every movie? Can somebody explain why this would be desirable?

There apparently are threads all over about it. Seems pretty desirable. People like to re create the theater experience in their home theaters. And theaters have pre shows. We play it while people are visiting the concession stand and game room and settling down

I use toggle between two images I made...works well enough for me. The image changes back and forth between this and one that says "Your feature presentation will begin shortly" every 15 seconds. It's basically just a screensaver that shows before we start the movie.

Back in the day, I bought custom intro DVDs from both Bitstream Animation (the CeRT robot intro) and Cinemawise. I stopped using both of them when I transitioned to Blu-ray. I just couldn't watch standard-def video on my screen anymore.

Recently, I remembered that the CeRT disc also included a 1080i version of the intro encoded as a TS file on the disc. I had never made any effort to extract that previously. Well, it turns out that it's very simple to copy it to a USB flash drive and plug it into my OPPO Blu-ray player. It looks pretty great, and I'm pleased to bring this back into my viewing rotation when I have guests over.

Shame the company went under.

I use custom intros with my setup.

Watch this video and skip ahead to around 4:30.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsNWe4emTUE

I have about 11 intros all in 1080p that are randomly played each time I start a movie. I created them here:

http://ivipid.com/

This requires a media server setup though and I am running a program called Mediabrowser 3. Not sure how one would do this with actual physical DVDs.

Some of the intros looks like clones of existing ones. I guess that's the point. Seems like some companies would get mad about some of these intros.

I still have and occasionally use my Custom HT intros. They show a flying disc that eventually explodes on a movie theater screen (with my logo) followed by "Welcome to joerod Hometheater" with that guy who used to do previews for movies. Awesome voice and too bad he passed away a couple years ago. There is also trivia questions and a 20 minute countdown which can be skipped. I used to play this disc in my game system while having the movie on pause ready to go in my main player. I would make popcorn while the countdown was going.
