I've been consuming a lot more beer lately, and my waist line is starting to show for it
Seems ever since St. Patty's day I've kept my bar fridge stocked with Kilkenny and Guinness.

Today I stumbled upon a couple dusty old bottles of a rare age statement Bruichladdich (port finished)
...its very hard to find older Laddie's these days, especially for under $100 (I paid $89) so I couldn't say no.

If its a good one, I'll go back for the other bottle next week.

I hear you on the beer. Lost 40 brewing is less than five minutes from where I work and I have been hitting it the last few days. They have a brew right now only on sample that is their Love Honey Bock that was aged in Three Roses bourbon barrels for 3 months. The regular bock is good but the barrel aged is very good.

Nice middle of the road whisky that can be had for relatively little money.

Amazingly enough, Glenlivet will be discontinuing the 12 and begin marketing a non-age statement whisky instead.

I just want to participate in the discussion a bit
So here is what I'm working on. A lot of the wines on the counter are from the wine fridge that I was moving when I took this photo. We have a second wine rack not pictured.
Our "best wine" are some ice wines we loved from our Niagara winery tours last fall. We keep the Patron in a separate not so accessible to all our guests area lol!

Was that the Canadian or the American side of the Niagara region? I honestly don't know what there are for vineyards on the American side, what with being Canadian and all.

Also can you post a picture of your Coca-Cola paraphenalia that appears on the left side of that image? I love old Coke stuff but don't collect much. I'd like to have a nice fridge in the basement though.

Ok here is some of what I have I had to take the opportunity to show it off
I actually like a lot of the mid 1990's era stuff. And reproductions. Just because I like the LOOK of it, the older worn stuff isn't my style and I could never afford the older mint stuff
We actually put a bit of work into the fridge to get it in 100% working order. Even tho it isn't THAT old. I traded a snowblower for it lol!

Well I won a name the beer contest at a local brewery. It will be called Magnum Trip, Stone's Throw Magnum Trip Belgium Tripel to be exact. It will be a 10% abv brew and will hit the tap tomorrow.

I have yet to get up to the brewery to try the beer I named but I have grown very found of their imperial IPA. Stone's Throw Amarillo Warrior is the name of it. It has probably moved into my top 5 beer list and is the only IPA I have ever tried that I ask for more LOL.

megdagooch, thanks for posting those pics, very cool stuff. As said, I love Coke stuff with a passion so always nice to see any of it. I hear you on the pricing of the older stuff, crazy. I'd still love to have an old bottle fridge though if I could or one of those big metal buttons.

Boomassiv, congrats on the beer naming, that's really neat. I love IPAs too but am usually limited in the number I'll drink in one sitting. It actually proves really useful in that sense because I can tend to drink more than I should, so it's self limiting.

Finally made it out to Calgary and managed to score some whisky for myself. Man, the pricing and selection make it look like I'm living in a third world country. Unreal. I was only able to hit up a couple of stores but came home with the following:

[IMG][/IMG]

I know pio didn't review the 16 y/o Glendronachs all that well elsewhere, but I'm hoping for these bottles to be better. Perhaps not and likely why I got them on sale, but I got them for $72 when they were $109 regularly. The 17 y/o Glendronach was from Co-Op.

I was really planning on snagging the 10 y/o Glendronach single cask as well (a couple of bottles) but I found the BenRiach single casks from 2000 instead. I tend to really enjoy PX casked whisky so these seemed great. Plus I'm trying to collect many different 2000 year distilled whisky as that's the year my daughter was born. Plus these were on sale down at $55 versus the regular price of $77 for the other years (1997-1999; 2001-2003) so yeah, the cheap Scotsman in me reared his head. Plus it leaves me with a target for the next time, that 10 y/o Glendronach.

Good Haul Mo' !!!

I looked at those BenRiach single casks too, awesome prices!
They will be very similar to the GD's (same company)

I'm still into a beer phase now that spring has sprung and yard work has commenced
....and construction on man-cave #2 is well under way. Nice to have a home for my other toys, finally.

It went up pretty quick with a couple helpers and air nailers, one day job.
