Glad to hear from you again.

Yeah, I have 5 bottles currently opened, GD 12, GD 15, Glenmorangie 10 Original and Wild Turkey Rare Breed 118.2.

The fifth one is a little sidetrack. A Pierre Ferrand Amber cognac. Just bought it today after work and I'm sipping it right now. Wonderful aroma of floral, vanilla, pear, citrus and prune. On palate, it tastes honey, nuts, balanced oak. So smooth. I'm feeling like in heaven. I'm falling in love with cognac from now, I'm afraid.

I've had a Glenfarclas 17, 21 and 25...but not the 15

All were pretty similar, lighter and slightly nutty, honey and creamy vanilla
I found the sherry influence substantially lighter in profile compared to GlenDronach.

Very good, but their best value for the money (IMHO) is the 105 Cask Strength

A little more Sherry a LOT more punch!

Thought I would share something some of you may not know:

You don't need a membership at Costco and Sams club to buy alcohol. They have great prices, especially on 1.75ml.

Interesting. I usually check out Costco, though I do have a membership, especially when in Hawaii. The selection isn't stellar but the pricing can be. Didn't know that about Sam's club though either, so thanks.

A law prohibits the sale of alcohol through members-only arrangements, so you should be able to purchase at any Costco type stores.

My buddy used to work for an alcohol distributer and clued me in. Obviously the stores don't advertise this because they want you to buy a membership.

x2!

What did you find Mo'?

I'm sippin' on some cheap $29 Bulleit Bourbon tonight,
...just so I won't be tempted to break into my Single Malt stash.
(great bang for the buck since crappy Jack has jumped to $10 more recently)

Bingo!

"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" (or "One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer", its original title) is a blues song written by Rudy Toombs and recorded by Amos Milburn in 1953. It is one of several drinking songs recorded by Milburn in the early 1950s that placed in the top ten of the Billboard R&B chart.[1] Other artists released popular recordings of the song, including John Lee Hooker in 1966 and George Thorogood in 1977.

Sorry, work got busy and I got to traveling. Nowhere really good (Montreal, which is beautiful and all but not scotchy-scotch land really, though a far cry better than where I live for selection).

From Florida I returned with the following:

Figured I'd give it a go since it's thus far only Taiwan and the U.S. where it is available. Florida isn't really the best place for Scotch pricing from what I observed (sort of knew ahead of time looking online) and hopefully these are good because they ran $72 a piece which is $20 more than the standard Macallan 12. Most other things weren't great prices so I simply went with something sort of novel, but still an age statement. Contemplated Macallan Edition 2 but not age statement means no cash from me.

Montreal wasn't entirely useless as I was able to snap up a bottle of Glendronach Revival. Not a great price at $108 CAD all in but given it's been gone locally for nearly six months I was happy to score a 2015 bottling of it. There were other items I contemplated and really I probably should have bought a Glenfarclas 25 given it was under $200 but I love me some Glendronach. They did have the Revival in Florida as well but at about the same price as Montreal, only in U.S. dollars of course, so 25-30% more than what I would have paid otherwise. Hard to believe I bought my first bottle of Revival only about four years ago for around $64.

After committing over $10k for Projector and SubWoofers within the last month or two,
I have to cut back on my booze expenditures starting today.

I've always passed this one by,
but at just $24 on sale it was finally time to try one..

It's not too bad, WAY better than Jack Daniels
that recently jumped to $38 locally

Still not as good as Bulleit Bourbon,
but the regular price on that is up to $38 ($29 on sale).

Thumbs up

Another bargain Bourbon this week,
I've walked past this one a few times for several months,
...finally decided to give it a chance at $34

Not too bad at all, 90 proof (45%ABV) and smooth as silk,
It's got gobs of Vanilla, Banana and Mom's home-made apple pie.

...so ya, it's a bit sweeter than Wild Turkey or Bulleit, but I like it for dessert

I'm quite enjoying exploring these cheaper options now that I'm being thrifty.

I spent WAY too much on toys lately

a pair of these beauties are on custom order with Funk Audio
(Based just outside of Vancouver B.C.)

No pictures to add unfortunately but I've had some good luck with friends traveling of late. My boss brought me back a Glenfarclas 25 from Montreal and my best friend brought be back a Glenfarclas 21 from a road trip he was on. Both quite good deals relative to the age of the whisky as Glenfarclas seems to have thus far lagged behind in jacking up the prices of their whisky. I got the 25 for $199 CAD. When I compare that to Macallan 25 selling for $1500+USD it's just an absolute no-brainer. Even the 21 is a bargain at $121. I scrambled over the summer to get a Glendronach 21 for $150 and it's now $246 locally, so the Glenfarclas again is a massive bargain. I suspect I'll be stocking up on Glenfarclas across the age range for the next few months as opportunities present themselves.

Currently listening to tunes via YouTube and finishing off a bottle of Oban Distiller's edition (15 y/o) alongside Manitoba's own:

More or less grew up on this stuff. I still miss stubby bottles to this day. But at least now it's out in cans.

I picked up a 3 pound Family pack of chicken wings at Costco for the early Hockey game,
and stopped for beer with no idea what I was thirsty for.

I decided the Irish Beer discovery pack was on tap for tonight,
but had to cruise down the Whisky isle just in case something was on special.
In the glass case they had the Ardbeg Escape pack on for just $64.

The 10 y/o Ardbeg bottle by itself is $69 so I felt compelled to grab another escape pack.
(already have one stashed away) that is usually priced at $85

Go Oilers!

The Costco Deli has them now, hot and ready (deep fried and lots of meat on them)
$19.99 for 3 pounds ready to go, with three sealed mini cups of hot Buffalo dipping sauce.

I had a $20 off coupon from Wine&Beyond burning a whole in my pocket.
only stipulation was it could only be used on regular priced product, $100 min purchase.

I got my go-to cheap Bulleit Bourbon and started looking for a ~$75 bottle of Scotch.
I wanted a sherry finished malt, had to be a potent cask strength, and Mo' got me thinking Glenfarclas.

...So picked up a "105" (60% ABV)
but got a bonus when I got home to discover it wasn't a new NAS bottle,
But an actual 10 y/o bottle

Two thumbs up from me on that one. I still have three bottles of the ten lying around uncracked.

I guess I'll make another trip over there tomorrow (payday WooHoo)
and pull a few bottles out of the tube to see if there are more 10's in the group. I'm guessing there are.

I thought those all disappeared a couple years ago?
