Volley,
Count me in! When you start taking orders let me know. I'll be happy to donate for your time and effort as I cannot print anything larger than 8.5X11. Just PM me when you are set.

THanks,

I ordered a print from volley today. I plan on making my box this coming week. I plan on following volley's directions and taking pictures along the way if anyone is interested, so that picture diagrams can go along with volleys very detailed instructions.

Anyone interested?

Yup, I love to see it. I'm in the process of ordering from volly as well (volley, ygm). However, I have meeting tomorrow thru wednesday so realistically I can't get to the project till late in the week, maybe even the weekend.

Okay, using volley's directions but some photos I snapped while creating my light box, I've created a word document that I am willing to email anyone who is interested in creating their own box. I have my box complete to the point of inserting the print. Waiting on snail mail for delivery of print. Once I have the print, I will add that to the assembly manual. Shouldn't be later than Wednesday or Thursday of this week.

Email me at darrenwander@mchsi.com if you want the low-class manual. Or shoot me a PM.

As I sat here getting ready to send out emails with the attached word doc to everyone, I thought it might be a better idea to give an online resource for people to go to anytime they want to see these very low budget directions. So the following web address has the pictures and directions. Sorry for changing my mind, but now you will not need to wait for me to email you.

FYI...I had glued the aluminum foil directly to the back and left the fuzzy black backer board out completely just to get the lights a little bit further away from the front. Also I glued the entire face of aluminum foil down and not just wrapped. Thought it would hold the lights back a bit better.

Not that anything is wrong, just letting everyone know the slight differences.

I am also still playing with diffusers to even out the light better. I am thinking about trying wax paper next...who knows what I will end up with.

A good material for light diffusers is velumn paper from your local craft store. It comes in a variety of color including white, silver, etc. You see it on the home shows whenever they custom make a light fixture. Sort of has the feel of rice paper.

I used it extensively behind my faux computer screens to enhance the colors and difuse the light.

I can e-mail them to you. Just PM me with your e-mail address.

My apologies to the folks that did not get your prints yet. So much for USPS. Let me know if you do not get them by Monday and I will reprint and send them again on my dime. But unless they get completely lost in the system, they should be there hopefully tomorrow.

Next round shipped out today. I bumped everything up in delivery method only because I have one that is MIA somewhere in USPS land. So everything now has tracking and delivery confirmation on it.

If I owe anyone anything, PM me. For those who have had issues with e-mail limits that still want the photoshop files, let me know and we can try out yousendit.com.

Dustin, Gismo, Pale, Bigworms, and Coolhand you should have e-mails, Shoozleboy (love the name), I will be working on yours tonight, Barhoram I have yours, let me know if you want to pick it up around work or if you want me to mail it to you.

Thanks to all

Hey Everyone,

Sign looks incredible!

It is 6AM as I type this and now I am waiting for Michaels to open!!!

I too have an area above the entrance that could easily fit this sign based on the dimensions of the shadow box...I would love to hard wire this or somehow conceal the power cord going to the rope light...W/O having to go back in the attic and snake more cable thru walls!

Does anyone have any recommendations on a self-contained power source for this sign??? I am not too familiar with rope light power source options...Do they have battery powered ropelights that are operated by an on-off switch?

Thanks for all the help!

Ryan

Ryan,
I know they have battery powered Christmas lights, and they do not cost much. Only problem is most of the battery powered lights come in 3-4 foot lengths. So maybe just go with two sets of lights. Pretty sure they run off AA battiers. Hope this helps or gives you an idea.
