Lifetime Networks Launches Lifetime Television HD Channel

Carriage Deals Signed With AT&T and Verizon

NEW YORK, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- In a significant expansion of its multi-platform business, Lifetime Networks announced today that it has launched Lifetime Television HD, joining sister channel Lifetime Movie Network HD, which bowed last year.

In making this announcement, Lori Conkling, Executive Vice President, Distribution, said that Lifetime Networks has signed deals with AT&T U-verse(SM) TV and Verizon FiOS TV to carry the new service. Lifetime HD features programming from the #1 women's network including the smash hit drama "Army Wives" and popular Lifetime Original Movies like the upcoming "The Tenth Circle."

Conkling said: "Our research shows that 85 percent of women 18-54 said they were interested in watching movies in high-definition*, far exceeding any other genre. A recent survey also showed that nearly half of women 18-54 want to add either Lifetime or Lifetime Movie Network to their high-definition package. In launching Lifetime Television HD, together with Lifetime Movie Network HD, we are giving women what they want. With these agreements, we are delighted that AT&T and Verizon will carry all of our networks."

The Lifetime Networks survey also showed that about 90 percent of women are involved in the purchase of HD TVs.

AT&T U-verse TV and Verizon FiOS TV have carried Lifetime Movie Network HD, the only 24/7 basic cable movie channel for women, since 2007.

"We are thrilled to include Lifetime Television HD on AT&T U-verse TV as part of our extensive HD lineup," said Dan York, AT&T U-verse TV, Head of programming and content. "We know it's important to offer our U-verse customers a wide variety of HD content that speaks to their interests, and Lifetime's quality programming will reach an important audience."

"The popularity of high-definition TV continues to grow, and Verizon's FiOS TV subscribers are looking for high-quality HD programming," said Terry Denson, Vice President, FiOS TV content and programming. "The Lifetime Television HD channel will be a great addition to our expanding HD channel lineup."

LIFETIME is the leader in women's television and one of the top-rated basic cable television networks. A diverse, multi-media company, LIFETIME is committed to offering the highest quality entertainment and information programming, and advocating a wide range of issues affecting women and their families. LIFETIME Television, Lifetime Movie Network, Lifetime Real Women and Lifetime Digital (including myLifetime.com) are part of LIFETIME Entertainment Services, a 50/50 joint venture of Hearst Corporation and The Walt Disney Company.

What Conkling should have said: "We are pleased to offer our viewers yet another stretch-o-vision channel for that faux HD experience." Lifetime Move Network stretches all the SD movies, so the odds are that the main Lifetime channel will stretch as well.

Me too. As a matter of fact:

Thank you for being a friend.
Travel down the road and back again.
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant.
And if you threw a party,
invited everyone you knew.
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
and the card attached would say,
thank you for being a friend.

For once I'm grateful that D* is dragging their feet on this one...I'll wait for the wifey to hear about it on 'O' or at the hair salon before I debate this with her. Good thing no Fios or U-Verse out here in the paw-paw patch.
