ABC is officially the first network to air all of its programming in HD (as mediocre as ABC's HD quality is, at least for me). Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has been cancelled. The last episode aired Jan. 13.

A new season of Hell's Kitchen debuted in June, but appears to still be in 16:9 SD, keeping Fox on the list for another year.

NBC has replaced its Saturday morning line-up qubo with a lineup from PBS Kids and Sprout.  All but one of the programs is HD.

The Broadcast HD List of Shame - Aug 11, 2012

CBS
Big Brother
CBS News Up to the Minute (Overnight Programming)
Cookie Jar TV (Saturday Morning Programming Block)
Face the Nation (16:9 SD)
I Get That a Lot
Let's Make a Deal

CW
Toonzai (Saturday Morning Programming Block)

FOX
Hell's Kitchen (16:9 SD)

NBC
Mad Money (Overnight Programming)

The Wiggles (Saturday Morning Program)

First-Run Syndication
Divorce Court (16:9 SD)
Family Feud (HD Debut in Fall 2012)
Jerry Springer
Judge Alex (16:9 SD)
Judge Joe Brown (Begins taping in HD in July 2012)
Judge Judy (Begins taping in HD in July 2012)
Judge Mathis
Maury
The Bill Cunningham Show (16:9 SD)

The Jeremy Kyle Show (16:9 SD)
The People's Court
The Rachael Ray Show (HD Debut in Fall 2012)
The Steve Wilkos Show
The Wendy Williams Show (HD Debut on Sept. 10, 2012)

In Wine Country on NBC is in 4:3 SD. If it would go HD they definately could have some great HD eye candy with the shots of the countryside.

How can we say "the digital transition is complete" when thousands of low power stations are still broadcasting in analog?

Was What Would You Do really HD? It sure looked like widescreen SD to me. One of the hidden cameras even had really bad color problems and noise.

Pretty sure the studio shots have been HD for a while now, since it hasn't been on the list.

Duda Named EP of NBCU's 'Steve Harvey'

Show will be produced at WMAQ Chicago's new HD facility

By Paige Albiniak -- Broadcasting & Cable, 3/12/2012 10:37:25 AM

Alex Duda will executive produce NBCUniversal's new talk show, Steve Harvey, and the show will be produced by Endemol USA at NBC's studios at WMAQ Chicago.

Three-time Emmy winner Duda previously executive produced Warner Bros.' The Tyra Banks Show, and currently is EP on Style's Jerseylicious and Glam Fairy.

"I can't think of a better person to executive produce Steve Harvey than Alex Duda. Alex is an award-winning producer and her wide range of producing expertise combined with her grasp of comedy, makes her so perfect for this show," said David Goldberg, chairman of Endemol, North America, in a statement. "Steve Harvey is a multifaceted comedic performer at the very top of his game and it was imperative that he be matched with someone of his caliber on the other side of the camera."

NBCU will unveil its new state-of-the-art high definition facility in Chicago next fall.

"We are thrilled to host and launch the new Steve Harvey show at NBC Tower," said Larry Wert, president and general manager of WMAQ Chicago, also in a statement. "This production will create new jobs and a destination for studio audiences here in Chicago. As we welcome Steve Harvey, NBC 5 will be unveiling our new best-in-class HD studio facility, which will further Illinois' efforts to bring new film projects to the state."

Steve Harvey is sold to stations in more than 90% of the country to debut next fall.

I assume Judge Judy and Judge Joe Brown won't air new episodes until September?

Here's some news that flew under the radar (because it's either overnight or kids' programming).

1) Saban has purchased Toonzai, which airs on The CW Saturday mornings, and will likely be revamping the block for this fall to promote its own series. This might signal a shift to HD.

2) NBC has cancelled Qubo and will begin airing NBC Kids, which will run PBS KIDS Sprout programming, beginning this Saturday, July 7. Wiki says this will be in HD. Will set the DVR out of curiosity.

3) In Wine Country has been dropped as NBC overnight programming and replaced with Mad Money. Still SD, of course.

Another update, after scanning some of the shows on Wikipedia: The Wendy Williams Show is moving to a new studio in Manhattan and will air in HD beginning September 10.

I suspect, as was the case last year, that this list will diminish considerably with September premieres.

All of the NBC Kids shows that ran today, minus The Wiggles, were HD. It appears there was one regular show that didn't run because of a shortened sports schedule, Poppy Cats (which a quick look on YouTube confirms is also HD). All the bumps and promos that I fast-forwarded through were HD as well.

Wikipedia says The Wiggles is an Australian program produced by the Australian Broadcast Company, which probably explains why it isn't in HD.

Per this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/t/1233532/rachael-ray-show-in-hd/0_50#post_22288924

Rachel announced last night on Craig Ferguson that they are moving to a new studio and will be in HD this fall.

In other news, Saban has announced its plans for Toonzai, which will be rebranded Vortexx on August 25. Strangely, it will feature a collection of primarily older cartoon series, so will not be in HD (or at least not entirely).

A Facebook post on Saban's official Vortexx page (the new name of Toonzai) indicates that the block will be in HD.

Given this information and combined with the announced lineup, I'd think possibly 4 of the animated series in the block will be in HD. Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL, Justice League Unlimited, Iron Man: Armored Adventures and Dragonball Z Kai all technically have HD versions (Kai was HD, just in 4:3). The question is if Saban was able to secure the HD versions of all these shows for airing and also if the local broadcasters are capable of airing them as such.

After checking it on YouTube, it looks like DBZ Kai is 16:9 HD. Justice League, however, was to my memory 16:9 but not HD. I tried to Google that but couldn't find a solid answer. Maybe what I'm remembering is that JL was not HD (it was just cut to letterbox for styling) but JLU was in HD. I did find reference to Blu Ray releases for both seasons of JLU.

Certainly the Power Rangers series they'll be running, which is from the 1990s, is not HD. I would expect the WWE program to be HD. Whatever the case, I'll DVR the whole thing on Aug. 25 just to see what they do.

Another bit of news: The CW has picked up The Bill Cunningham Show for national distribution as part of its daytime lineup. The show currently airs in 16:9 SD.

With the information I can find, JLU is in HD I do believe

http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/jlu/releases/dvd/seasonone/
http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/jlu/releases/dvd/seasontwo/

You are right and Justice League was just matted widescreen, and not HD.

DBZ Kai was broadcast in 16:9 in Japan, but the US release is the traditional 4:3 style. A previous US DBZ release was widescreen, but they went back to the preferred 4:3 format for this version of the series.
