Something similar to this happened with the Dead Zone on USA... They started as half-seasons of 11 episodes... then were supposed to have a 22 episode season, but decided to split that into 2 seasons... it wasn't long after that the show was eventually canceled.

I'm all for the half-seasons, as I think it helps shows get completed and resolve plots without fear of being canceled mid-stream... but once a show finds an audience and is popular, it would be nice if they didn't have 2.5 months on and 9.5 months off air (not even repeats for shows like Eureka much in the off-season)... because people do forget about them.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

Just a bump, new episode tonight at 9:00pm EDT. I can hardly wait, I know I'll be let down because I've been waiting so long that it can't be as good as I remember it.

I'm sure it will be a good episode when I watch it a second time. I'm just so glad to have it back on the schedule.

I was wrong, I loved it, Sheriff Andy was a hoot. Glad to see Ever Carradine(Lexi) is still around.

Very good episode. I had almost forgotten how much fun this series can be.

I agree about Sheriff Andy....would be nice if they could find an appropriate role for roboguy.

I agree that Eureka's new season is off to a great start. Bringing in the robot, Sheriff Andy, was inspired writing. I had never seen the guy who played Andy before but he was a charming fellow, indeed. The tension created in this episode by not knowing whether Jack would get his job back made for an interesting hour and seeing the pompous general who had fired Jack foiled in the end was satisfying. I am ready for more.

Ty Olsson, he was on 8 episodes of BSG, but I remember him mostly from 'Men In Trees', he played Sam aka Plow Guy.

I mostly remember Ty Olsson from Men In Trees. I really enjoy Eureka. It is a fun show and it really doesn't take itself too seriously.

I enjoyed this episode I was wondering how carter would get his job back. I just wished that I hadn't of had to wait 9 and a half months to resolve the cliff hanger.

You can never judge a show by its pilot episode or the half season following it.

My wife and I loved Sheriff Andy! I really wish they would keep him as a regular character on the show. He could be to Sheriff Carter what Deputy Fife was to the original Sheriff Andy. His jovial personality fit in perfectly with the atmosphere of the show.

Well, it was a Jo episode tonight, not as good as Sheriff Andy, but not so bad. Did anybody recognize the guest star tonight? Julia(Leela Savasta) She was one of Baltar's harem women on BSG, and she had a few appearances on Stargate Atlantis.

Yes, she was also in a Canadian series called "Intelligence" a few years back playing the girlfriend of the head bad guy. She's quite a looker.

That she is. Looks like the new woman will be on next week, saw her what seemed like dozens of times in the previews before the show started back.

Yeah, I was disappointed to see her get killed off in Stagate: Atlantis. Although she wasn't featured prominently on that show, she has one of the cutest faces on TV - enough to make my heart skip a little when she was on screen.

Anyone else think the button that Carter needed to push was going to end up being the one in his hand (the one he was told was the "emergency shutoff" button)?

Thought I had that all figured out, but apparently not.

I was thinking the exact same thing. When he restated "you have all the equipment you need" and looked at the button in his hand, I was sure he would finally press it. Then he threw it at the one on the wall...

The other odd bit about that "test"... the computer voice saying "you have everything you need"... Ok, so I guess the playing cards help him figure out the floor bit... but what was the point of the straws? He didn't actually use them for anything that helped him, though he tried.

Also, he might very well have thrown the thing from the center column, and not even needed the playing cards either... so something about that "test" seemed fishy.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

The whole "test" was lame. If placing the cards on the "floor" allowed him to walk, then all he had to do was place the cards a little more efficiently to get them right next to the button. It stretches suspension of disbelief a little too far.

It wasn't the cards allowing him to walk...they were just landing on the walkable areas (and the rest of the deck had fallen to the floor). So really they were just showing him where he could step...

I thought that was obvious, or there would have been cards all over the "floor" and not just in 3 groups.

I didn't worry much one way or the other about the believability of Jack's actions during the test. After all, this is Eureka.

I didn't notice that only certain areas of the floor were still solid. I just started watching Eureka a couple of weeks ago, when I caught a few eps in the Eureka marathon. It's light and fun, and I like the ensemble.

I long ago (like in the middle of the pilot) learned to completely ignore the "willing suspension of disbelief" flags going off in my head all of the time. Eureka is a light, character oriented series and the science (and science fiction), political maneuverings, social dynamics, and pretty much everything else is completely unrealistic. We (family) enjoy the fun situations, good acting, and interesting characters on the show and I just ignore the rest.

On almost every episode I do wonder what the show creators / writers could have done if they had kept a more serious take on the aspects I mentioned in the previous paragraph. The show still could be a comedy, with the same characters and lightheartedness, but a more realistic exploration of the issues and themes set up by a town similar to Eureka.

But that would probably take a different set of writers and script writing skills.

I like the show. The settings and the characters have pulled me in. I wonder how it flew under my radar for so long.

The more I think about it...

the more I wonder if the "test" was rigged anyway. Perhaps the lab girl really tested Jo since she wanted to be her... but perhaps the Sheriff was just being tested to be tested and keep him out of the way, since lab girl was monitoring the testing.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

Well, the new girl(Tess) arrived tonight, glad to see Lexi back. Thought tonight's episode was the weakest of the season so far. Next week looks good, I wonder if Tag is gonna be around this season.

There are so many great characters on this show, if this show had half the promotion that Warehouse 13 had, I think it would do a lot better. Warehouse 13 has had only 3 episodes, but I bet they've been show 15 times or more on SciFi, not counting all the other stations that it's been shown on. Directv even has the first 3 eps On-Demand(not HD though )

That Jaime Ray Newman really gets around. While carrying on with the Sheriff she was carrying on with psych chief on "Mental."

I'm willing to bet that the new lady in town will surely have a romantic encounter with the Sheriff, they already been a bit too close, we are only missing a kiss there..

And "the signal" I'm suspecting it's not an alien signal but maybe a signal from Nathan Stark? we didn't really seen him die, he just "vanished"...

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

It did have heavy promotion back when it was new. Don't think it helped any.

I am pretty upset that SyFy is now polluting the screen with more garbage on top of their station bug. The whole "up next, Warehouse 13" crap that's on there is really annoying me. I had high-hopes when the small "Syfy" logo appeared, which at the time was less intrusive than the old "SciFi" logo, but now they've made it much worse.

Oh well. That's the times we live in.
