It's coming back, but when isn't known. The strike threw it off, hopefully this summer, but it's not been canceled.

That was enjoyable, can't wait for new episodes in July. I thought the picture quality was pretty good and they were definitely all in HD.

Verizon Fios at my location has just turned on what is supposed to be a new CNBC-HD channel 879 in time for the Olympics. However, I am getting Sci-Fi HD on the channel instead. Don't know how long it will be there. I can confirm that Sci-Fi HD is running a second season Eureka marathon in HD today. First episode of the new season starts tonight at 9 PM ET.

I am looking forward to this show, espacially now that I have Sci-Fi channel in HD. I watched a marathon of seaon 2 a month or so ago, so I am caught up and ready for season 3.

I read somewhere that before they writer's strike they had 5 or 6 shows ready for the new season. Once these are shown there will be a short hiatus before they have new episodes ready.

Set to record it tonight just in case. Really looking forward to this new season. This is a really fun show and it doesn't take itself too seriously trying to get some 'cosmic' truth across.

Thanks for the post, I'd forgotten about it.

Now I have decide which show to delete from the silly-ass 50 program limit on the DirecTV DVR.

Yes, I know, I have a TiVo S3 w/1TB external with Comcast but I only subscribe to Limited Basic with them. I keep hoping DirecTV will "see the light" someday and get a real DVR.

Been catching the mini-marathon since I got off work and I think the PQ is pretty sharp, I like it like that.

We were hit with a thunderstorm about the time Eureka began. I was afraid the electricity might go out. Fortuneately, there was no outage and got to see the entire episode. I really enjoy this series.

I was a little disappointed with the season 3 opener from last night.

For one, the show remains too formulaic, like Reaper was for a while. Gee, which of the guest stars is responsible for the sabotage tonight?

Also, yes, the season 1 finale was excellent - but I think it shows a dearth of good ideas if they're still milking that episode in season 3. IMHO they should have resolved that in Season 2 and come up with something new & interesting for season 3.

If there was anything good about season 3, it's that the sherriff's daughter finally gets something to do - and working @ Cafe Diem seems like a good choice, since all sorts of crazy stuff usually happens there.

I need some memory jogging, are we supposed to know what the blue liquid is? Was that from last season?

Me neither, but the scene had that "uh oh, remember this stuff?" feel about it.

I enjoyed last night's episode. I even like the cheesy, '50s looking special effects. The drones looked like something from the original Buck Rogers, although I thought the information shown on the adolescent girl drone's information screen was a hoot and a nice modern touch.

I like Lauren Holly a lot and hope that she sticks around for awhile. She does a good job as the edgy, too smart for her own good, bi-atch with a heart of gold. By the way, I don't have any idea what the stuff in the vial she had was, either.

Ouch on that woman looking like Lauren Holly. I know the plastic surgery and botox have been bad, and they killed her off on NCIS, but that's actually Frances Fisher.

When seconds count, the police are only minutes away.

You mean Frances Fisher? They do look alike though...

Frances Fisher

Lauren Holly

I'm hoping we get to see Salli Richardson in her knickers again, that scene last season was...uh...breathtaking.

Salli Richardson

I see AAF corrected you already. :-)

Yeah but you had pictures. It's always better with pictures.

Edit: It's not as big an age gap as I thought. 45 versus 56. Maybe it's because Lauren Holly will be forever young in my memory...yeah that's it.

At least they do play on the protective Father, wild Daughter thing. Did anyone notice the drone's analysis of her:

Age: 17
GPA: 4.0
Next of Kin: Jack Carter
Hair color: Unknown

And for the 'Fixer':
Age: ??

I guess I don't expect any deep conflict and examination of issues like BSG, it a fun show about smart people doing crazy things. And, how the every-man Sheriff Carter can have a perspective that is a great counterpoint to the 'great thinkers' around him. The lightheartedness is what makes the Carter vs. Stark thing that's so much fun. ("...no, but, I did get to destroy a childhood dream." Stark on the moon rocks.) For Carter's sake I hope the cute dry cleaner makes some more appearances--if he keeps slinging mustard like that.
I also wonder how they'll resolve the Henry thing. He certainly seemed preoccupied during while playing chess.

As for the blue fluid, is she someone from the 'Beverly' conspiracy?

That's what I was wondering, I should have watched the last episode, did she die, or get arrested? I seem to recall the "conspiracy" was still alive at season's end.

I know that HD can't make a bad show better, but when a fun one like Eureka goes HD, it just enhances the experience.

I'm also coming up short on the blue liquid. Then again, I didn't watch the marathon to keep up with where we left off at the end of last season---though from what is being said, that may not have helped.

Holy smoke, you are right about that. I was fooled, despite, or maybe because of, having seen Lauren Holly on several NCIS episodes in recent weeks. The characters are very similar and, look a lot alike. Nevertheless, I should have chalked the obvious age difference of 11 years up to something other than hard living.
