I like "True Blood" and my wife is totally enamored with Bill.

My (?) for HBO is "True Blood" likely to follow their recent trend of one-season (e.g. “John From Cincinnati” & “Flight of the Conchords”) or two-season (e.g. “Deadwood”) and outers or can we look forward to a series with some longevity?

HBO has already ordered a second series that should air next summer.

Thanks, good to know. I have always enjoyed HBO's original programming, but their recent trend of the single-season-series has been disappointing.

Did you mean second season or is there another series coming out?

HBO ordered a second season of True Blood that is set to air beginning in July 2009.

I'm glad I decided to stick with the series. After the 2nd episode, I almost decided to stop watching. It began to pick up steam in the 3rd episode and it became a must-watch show for me from that point on. I have never seen a show improve this much week-to-week.

I agree that it has seemed to get better and better week to week...

Great show to watch as we work our way towards Halloween too.

season=series. I tend to think of a season as 22 or more episodes and a series as 12.

Since they've been shooting new episodes, I assumed "Conchords" was going into a second season.

Seriously? I enjoyed watching the 1st season so much I even bought the DVD.

How about Larry David, will he be "Curbing His Enthusiasm" again anytime soon?

Remember the Larry Sanders show? "Hey now!"

Yes, it will be back. But not for a while...a year away, at the very least. (Larry's doing a Woody Allen movie and probably won't even be writing new episodes of "Curb" until that's finished.)

As a white, middle-aged, 52-year-old man, who is still working for Corporate America I have a lot of empathy for this character.

Or, you can just call me 'Dilbert.'

I'm 100% sure it will be released on DVD, when is another question, but I'm positive it will be released on DVD at some time.

I think somebody mentioned that it was scheduled for season 2 next summer, so it will more than likely be released before the 2nd season starts, that seems to be the standard.

So, how many episodes are left in this season? I won't say I'm hooked, want a little more exposition, but I'm still watching. For me, I'd like to know a little more about the universe we're exploring. If this was a book, I understand it was, I'd be reading quickly to get to the point where I understand what world the characters are living in. I need to get to that point with the show before I'm hooked.

Another good show last night. Only four more to go for the season. The kids were great.

I'm confused as ever about Sam, and something is going to really happen with him after the cop found he lied about his parents and the nude village (and what is the deal with all the nude male butts, especially the old farts!!!). I'm curious if Sam killed the vampires in the house. Warewolves (Sam) and Vampires never get alone, so maybe that adds some to the resentment that Sam has for Bill.

the show just keeps getting better and better each week

The Graveyard seen was hot and sick. New meaning to giving to her dirty.

And what's up with Jason and ole girl? She's a crazy B. They are no better than the two junkies in episode 1 and 2. I see Jason as eventually rehabilitated and becoming a vampire hunter.

Tara's mom and the whole demon thing --- not sure where they are going with this yet. Interesting though.

Having been to Hedonism II resort in Jamaica where there is a huge nude beach, the scene in True Blood was pretty accurate. You see lots of bodies there that are not part of the beautiful people. What you do see is humans in all their infinite variety...

The previous episode showed the 3 young guys from the bar throwing Molitov cocktails through the windows of the house. Sam wasn't involved.

Alan Ball knows who the audience for his show is. If you're the type of viewer that can buy the premise of "Heroes" then it isn't far off to assume the same audience would buy "True Blood's" OTT supernatural shenanigans. In fact I think of Sookie as a "Heroes"-type character with a lame and useless power stuck in a world she's ill-equipped to handle (both powerwise and on an emotional level).

I agree that there is a lot of the Heroes vibe in Sookie. She's is very powerful in a way but mostly she's a mess.

As was the case with Ball's Six Feet Under, I am made so uncomfortable by the overtly homosexual scenes that I fast forward through them. Lafayette's scene with the light-in-his-loafers vampire, for example, made me cringe. Nevertheless, I think that True Blood is off to a terrific start and has a chance to be as good as Six Feet Under was.

Anna Paquin's Sookie is wonderful, sexy, vulnerable, and weird. I also like Stephen Moyer as the gentleman vampire, Bill Compton. That southern accent should be bottled in bond. Lizzy Caplan as Amy is intriguing, too. I look forward to learning how her story plays out.

There are so many responses to this, but I can't find one that is appropriate. The same exact scene with a heterosexual tone is fine, but not with a homosexual tone?

That's it, exactly. I respect sexual preferences as well as the next person but still don't like seeing guys lick each other's tonsils on screen. Live with it. back atcha.

I find this response kind of harsh. He was just stating his opinion, and also said how much he enjoys the show otherwise. I have a gay ex-wife, and gay friends, but I also turned away during that make out scene - just as some might turn away during a gory scene. I still enjoy the show!
