I liked it. The most important factors in any TV series are concept, casting, and writing, it seems to me. The vampire concept isn't new but Ball's spin that they are now "out of the casket," as it were, because of the availability of ersatz blood is inspired. As to casting, Paquin is a tremendously appealing young actress, who even manages a plausible southern accent. And what show wouldn't be made better by the presence of William Sanderson and Chris Bauer? This week's episode's writers managed to walk a knife edge between comedy and drama, which I liked a lot. I am looking forward to more.
