Dang, I am really, really going to miss this show if it gets canceled. There is no other sci-fi on TV in the same universe as Fringe.

Finally some answers if the show does get cancelled I can die happy knowing where the observers come from.

You can never judge a show by its pilot episode or the half season following it.

Hmmm...so when the Observer's mind "converged" with Peter's, the Observer's name on the computer was "Mr. X"...is this supposed to tie into the "animated" episode from last season where Olivia met a Mr. X? Does anyone remember what happened in that episode between the two of them?

Wasn't Mr. X the man she thought was going to kill her? Maybe Peter is who shoots the Observer.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned that we still don't know who is responsible or how Peter came back. September said that it wasn't him who returned Peter.

I wonder if the cure that Walter developed gave Peter some new ability or changed his DNA to facilitate human evolution. That's why September was there in the past, to see the beginnings of how The Observers would come to be.

One part Walter-enhanced Peter + one part Cortexiphan-enhanced Oliva = Observer

So if Peter has a baby with Red Olivia then The Observers cease to exist.

Are you referring to the man that tried to bring the zeppelin down in which Peter, Bella (William Bell) and Walter were in? Not sure they're one in the same Man X, wasn't that all in Olivia's mind/subconscious o_O

In the zeppelin:
Quote:

Man X: How many are up there?
Peter: It's just me
Man X: This is a flare gun, you don't wanna get shot with a flare gun
Walter: Peter?
Peter: Walter, stay back!
Walter: Who are you?
(Man X reaches for parachute, still pointing the flare gun at Peter)
Man X: What's your name?
Peter: Peter
Man X: Peter what?
Peter: Peter Bishop
Man X: Nice to meet you
(Man X fires the flare gun at the hull of the zeppelin, gets sucked out and makes his escape. Peter holds on tight but Walter gets sucked out and falls to the icy depths below.)

Yes, but at the end of that episode, doesn't Olivia also say that's the man that's going to kill her?

He failed to use the device that he created to erase all traces of him from the universe(s). I seem to recall September saying something about how Peter managed to bring himself back bodily.

He did. Which doesn't sound like the ability of a "normal" human. Combine that with the Machine and it's ties to Peter and I think there might be something about Peter that we don't know yet.

I like the Peter being 50% of the evolution, or at least the beginning, to Observer idea, it does seem to fit fairly well with what we've seen so far.

The Observer said he was few generations after Peter so by that time and if Peter and Olivia produce a large enough family they could start a new generation of human.

The Observers never reveal how many of them there are, so they could just be one extended family who have pulled apart Walter's ideas to become time travelers and run their own scientific unit.

They could even be employees of a future Massive Dynamic.

Another thing about Peter and Olivia having children...

Peter and red-haired Olivia are from the same universe... so nothing special there... but Peter from over there and "our" Olivia procreating would be a cross-universe thing.

To the best of my knowledge, in Fringe history, there hasn't been another case of someone from one side producing children with people from the other.

If the Observers are a result of that... it stands to reason why they care about both universes and not just one of them.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

The reason they might want to stop September is possibly because they have their own version of the Prime Directive and what happens should stay happening. A rule which September has broken multiple times already and created more problems than he's solved.

If Peter had been cured by Walternate there would be no Parallel War either and no risk to both universes being destroyed. Wiping out Peter after he made the bridge would at least ensure he couldn't undo the truce and destroy the universes again.

Hard to tell where this is going, but it surely doesn't look like all the missing links and past occurrences will come to a head. Too many unsettled events from last season that have disappeared from this season.

True... and yet at the same time they are revisiting some season 1 stuff that had been dropped... like the dead Jones' plan... now we have an alternate Jones still working on whatever that plan was... so we get a chance to revisit some of the early season dangling plots.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

There are so many "dangling plots" you need a scorecard.

If you can rattle some off that would be useful.

I really can't remember what's left now. Wiping the timeline seems to have wiped my memory of a lot of things from the last two seasons as well.

Hard to see how there are any dangling plot points when the old timeline doesn't presently exist.

Since the series has been reset in many ways, it makes sense that they'd go back to ideas from Season 1. Very excited to see what Peter discovers with the egg this time around.

No dangling plot points???
How about the entire story line of both universes that were in self destruct mode and all the others from that universe? There are a dozen for starters. The we have the machine that just disappeared along with everything and everyone else. As if nothing ever happened.
If all of that isn't the plot hole of the decade, nothing is.

Reminds me of V & The Event. Ends in the middle of everything.

If all of that isn't the plot hole of the decade, nothing is.

I seem to recall you posting here near the end of Season 3 criticizing the show for plot holes that didn't exist. It seems that is still the case now.

When Peter bridged the universes, that stopped the decay of the Redverse. That was the whole point of using the machine. In the process, he unintentionally erased himself from the timeline. But the machine is still in the bridge room, and Peter believes he can use it to get home to his universe--it hasn't disappeared at all.

What hasn't been explained yet is how the machine works in a world where Peter isn't supposed to exist. But since Walter built the machine, that hardly seems like a dangling plot point. He can make it work however he wants.

They existed for me since it wasn't obvious those points were answered without going to some outside site that dissects every episode to get the questions answered.

As stated by others, this is exactly why these types of programs aren't popular, too many t's to cross and i's to dot.

It also explains why the people who like the show, LOVE the show. Not everyone wants everything spelled out for them. There are other shows for that.

To be fair, on these two particular plot points (that since creation of the bridge, the Redverse was healed, and that Peter believes he can use the machine to return to his timeline), it was completely spelled out by dialogue on the show.
