I have always watched and like The Mentalist, but the high-school sweetheart, going steady vibe of the romance between Jane and Lisbon does not fit either character at all... it is jarring and silly.

You are correct! I really liked this show from the beginning thru the Red John episodes but watching this season I'm glad the show is ending. Awful!

There is little 'chemistry' between the two of them like there is Castle and there was in Fringe (for example). Sleepy Hollow has much more and they aren't even an 'item'.

Recording free OTA TV for 'time shifting' has been here since 1977. Will there be DVR's to do the same when ATSC3 obsoletes existing DVR's??

I couldn't disagree more. I think it's fun watching their relationship evolve.

To each his own I guess.

I have to agree. I think there is more chemistry between Vega and Wylie than Jane and Lisbon.

It's the players, not the script, even Jane would have some chemistry if Katic played Lisbon, it's great fun watching Fillion sweat when Katic turns up the heat. Castle is adult humor, Mentalist just another buddy cop show and one that won't be remembered long after its gone.

I absolutely loved tonight's episode. However, I sure didn't like the preview for next week. I hope they don't make the mistake of killing off a main character with four episodes to go just to add "drama" to the end of the run. I for one, like happy endings.

I sure hated to see Vega get killed. I really felt bad for Wylie, but the scene with Cho breaking down was incredibly emotional.

Only three episodes (two weeks) to go and I'm going to miss this show big time.

Yeah they had to kill someone close so Jane would quit for good, sad it had to be her, I didn't know they were killing anyone (miss the previews), took me by surprise!

Well it was almost at the show's end so she didn't miss much more episodes..

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

This was a weird episode... because there was almost no Mentalizing to it... just the bit at the start to suss out the person working in the bank who was in on the robbery, and they didn't even go back to that guy later...

Not saying it was bad, just weird... sort of a non-Mentalist episode.

I was surprised that they offed Vega. I thought for sure it was going to be either Abbot or Cho...

For some reason I did not get the episode where Vega was killed. I can't find it anywhere on Directv either.

It's available on cbs.com according to moviefone.com. It's a key episode, so I definitely recommend watching it.

This may be my only option. For some reason this episode is not shown on the CBS Directv OnDemand channel. The show before and after is there.

The same thing is happening with Criminal Minds. There is one episode missing.

I thought last weeks episode was the best in a while and reminded me of why I liked this show for so long. It finished tomorrow night and hopefully will end on a high note.

What? No comments yet? I thought it was a decent ending, though like this whole season, it was a tad on the 'sappy' side.

It was a satisfying two hours and a good ending. I noticed last week, and of course this week, that the serene cabin looked awfully familiar. I think it the same cabin that figured prominently at the end of the Tom Cruise film Oblivion.

I thought they did a great job by keeping true to the series with a strong crime story and also giving fans a happy ending. I was very pleased with the finale. I'm going to miss this show big time.

I was hoping the final killer would be a bit more clever, but other then that, I'm satisfied with the ending they didn't try to do something crazy.

I bailed on the show at the beginning of the season but I decided to watch the series finale. I know there were some character references that I didn't get due to not watching the show this season, but on the whole it was a very good episode that felt like previous seasons. It was good to see the cast reunited for the wedding, and that was the biggest Cho smile I've ever seen. When Lisbon took Cho to look at the wedding dresses i laughed out loud. She looked great in the "slut" dress.

I'll catch up with this season via streaming.

Cho deserves a spinoff.

I was hoping for the exact opposite. They should have let him be killed in the explosion and spent the last episode letting the characters interact. Right after the explosion I thought great... let's let the story line concentrate on the characters. A second later I thought.. no way in heck will they do that.

Virtually every show for some unknown reason will never give more than a few seconds to "wrap" anything up. I guess you could say no one would watch... well in this case who cares? If it had been done x times and didn't work I'd say fine... but it's never done. You could have even followed them a couple of weeks in their new positions... married, promotions or whatnot.

Generally, you watch shows for the characters and I simply don't understand why they can't let me take center stage even for a few moments.

The ending of this show was fine ...
It did seem a little "forced" to make her pregnant...
A better ending scene would have been simply a shot of the (now) Renovated cabin, 4 or 5 yrs from now, & a little preschool aged girl playing / running in the front yard ...

They ended Parenthood with flash forwards and it was a very satisfying way to see it end.

I was satisfied with this series finale. Enjoyed the almost light & breezy capture resolution of the killer. I found that very appealing, for whatever reason. Like it was just another obstacle to overcome on a typically harried wedding day. And maybe the cavalier and happy-go-lucky attitude of Jane/Lisbon as they left, denying the killer any sense of power from the situation.

A final word about Lisbon/Jane chemistry

I know that this has been a subject of disagreement around here, with some thinking that their mutual romantic interest came out of the blue, not believable, shoe-horned in, etc.

I think there has long been a romantic interest coming from Lisbon's end. Not always obvious but it was pretty clear for a long time that she held something more than a casual interest in Jane. But due to their working relationship, his general unpredictability and emotional distance (in part from the long lingering guilt about his family), and her own difficulties with relationships, it was mostly kept below the surface.

From Jane's side, there was an affection or regard he held for Lisbon, but for me, his romantic transition was a little too jarring and not earned enough over time. The actor sold it pretty well, despite the lack of character development to that end. But still not quite as natural or believable as it might have been.

Never bought Jane as a true romantic. For years, he played with people, and their emotions, as if they were toys. Then, wham, he chases Lisbon onto a plane and confesses his love! What?
The writers and producers gave the majority of the viewers what they wanted, even though it wasn't sold very well by the characters or the actors portraying them.
