6th season premiere in HD, with MICHELLE OBAMA and a performance by the JONAS BROTHERS! As seen on WDIV-DT Detroit, an NBC affiliate.

"The Ellen DeGeneres Show" is produced by A Very Good Production and WAD Productions, Inc. in association with Telepictures Productions, and is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution.

You seem a little too excited about the Jonas Brothers. They're dreamy, yes; but try to exercise some self control.

Anyone watch? How did it look?

Saw about 10 minutes, all I could take. It looked Ok, maybe recorded in 720p? They did have a nice outdoor venue for the musical performance.

I'll watch, until the Jonas Brothers come on. I can't stand those little shits in SD, so I don't even want to see them in HD.

I guess I'm getting the SD feed in my area?

The show is on right now and it's in SD 4:3 and looks horrible.

Don't know what's going on; maybe somebody in control will realize the mistake and correct it mid-broadcast?

But I'm disappointed right now.

SD here in Albany NY as since it is syndicated it must be recorded by the local to be played in their time slot and our local does not yet have that capability. We just started to get Jepordy and Wheel of Fortune in HD as our ABC affiliat just upgraded to that capability. Our CBS affiliate is doing HD local news but still does not have the ability to time shift syndicated HD.

What a waste.

I hate it when there is an HD alternative available, and I'm stuck watching in SD.

I'm paying enough to my cable company for HD service.

Your cableco has nothing to do with it.

The local station has to be equipped for the syndicated program. Your's appears not, and like always, it comes down to money.

Call the local station general manager and ask them.

I understand that my cable company are not the people at fault.

It just sucks paying for HD service, then see a show that is supposed to be in HD be presented in SD.

I will definitely contact my local network affiliate and see what exactly is going on.

That does look soft. I wonder if that is an Ellen mandate to keep from being too revealing. I've seen widescreen SD look sharper, such as SYTYCD:

No HD in Dallas. KXAS NBC

I'll bet the house Oprah is. It's on WFAA ABC. The local HD gold standard in DFW.

No HD on WKYC Cleveland(NBC). No surprise from that channel, pure garbage. They still stretched SD until 2 years ago.

Oprah is HD on WEWS(ABC). They also have Wheel and Jeopardy, in HD, since 2006.

WOW!

This REALLY looks soft!

I watched the first 3 minutes and wondered was it really 480 Widescreen as I've seen Fox Sports Widescreen look better than this.

On the other hand, Oprah on WABC-DT doesn't look much better.

I'd be happy if we could have the luxury of SD widescreen here. Nope. Just the same crap 4:3 like it's always been.

Guess it's better than when WKYC used to stretch SD programming though.

We have it on in HD. The first feed at 7am was blown by the syndicator..
so we had to take the 8am refeed..one of our guys said they fed it 3 or so more times throughout the day for various reasons.

FYI,HD refeeds from CBS for Wheel-Jeopardy that are due to our problems and not feed issues are $500..

HD on KSDK St. Louis (who has Jeop, Wheel and Oprah in HD as well). Didn't look too bad through D* at a quick glance, but I didn't stay around.

the NBC affiliates in Los Angeles ought to rot in hell for not putting Ellen in HD. Makes absolutely no sense since it's filmed here in Burbank.

Does that mean today's lack of HD could be a mistake? The channel Ellen is on(WKYC) has never shown HD syndicated programming before.

I will second the comment that the show in HD is very soft as in out of focus as in no better than up-converted HD with the exception that it filled the screen. OPRA was on in HD opposite it and was very soft as well. The CBS station had HD tennis on that actually looked like HD. Do they want to make sure no wrinkles are ever visible? I hope the resolution problem will get fixed. The only thing being gained by HD at this point is having the shows fill the screen.

Maybe whoever designed "Good Morning America"'s HD setup to blur Diane Sawyer headed up the HD redesign for these two shows.

And it may not be Oprah and Ellen that asked for it for themselves...both shows have a lot of Hollywood celebrities on, no? Though the stars seem to brave Leno and Letterman in HD...
