I didn't get to see any of last season. Any idea if AMC will re-air season 4 before the start of season 5?

Hopefully, they have that late-night marathon like they did last year.

The Season 4 Blu-Ray set has a suggested retail price of $60 but on Best Buy.com you can pre-order it for $40.

Wait ... so they will air the first eight episodes in July ... and then we have to wait another god damn year to watch the remaining 5 episodes?

That is just unbelievable.

Hmmm... so somehow when episodes are placed 12 months apart it is just a split season?

Unfortunately I would assume that a lot of their motivation behind this is to be eligible for two seasons worth of TV awards.

It looks like they are starting from the pilot on June 11 with at least two episodes a night.

But what's wrong with calling it two seasons? Did someone agree to only do one more season? It sounds like result of a contract dispute.

We've known this (at least those of us not in denial) since they announced last year that 16 eps were approved. Odds are that the last 8 will air in late winter or whenever AMC needs an anchor for whatever other show they are running at that time.

Then it would be an eight episode season, which would look just as stupid. They're just milking it for what they can. They wouldn't look so bad if it was a 20 epi "season."

Does any basic cable show ever get more than a dozen or so episodes per season? Doesn't seem like it ...

Several do, USA has several shows that have 15 to 20 or so, TNT, the Closer usually has more. They split the seasons up so much that it's hard to keep up with the number of episodes per season, too many breaks in airings.

I had a little cognitive slip there - by season I meant consecutive airings Seems like most of the newer ones are 10-12 run straight through. The Closer is just laugh out loud funny now - one season, but with extra episodes after the season is over then a spin-off that's really the same show or something like that.

"The Closer" was to end last winter , but they talked K. Sedwick into doing 6 more episodes Just so they could tie into the spin-off of "Major Crimes" with the ending of her series . So it's not like it's a full season but an extended ending to a well done series & allows most of the cast to continue working with the same characters in the Spin Off "Major Crimes"
All the remaining 6 episodes were shot last summer/fall while the regular season was shot . I seen a interview with K Sedwick on Craig Ferguson on the last day she shot the ending . She quit because she wanted to remain in NYC full time & was tiring of spending 1/2 the year in LA . "Major Crimes" is said to be a completely different style show than "The Closer " was .

Never watched the series live- just came aboard this year watched ep one/season one through the last ep of season four back in Feb-March. Went through serious withdrawals after viewing last show of season four.

Great news it's returning.... love W.W.

Yes, it is the best show on TV. I still don't understand why AMC will not acknowledge that RUBICON ever existed. I want to watch it in the worst way.

I think 'Rubicon' needed to be more like "The Killing' - a two season project to get through the principle plotline adequately. While the series was intelligent, competently produced, well acted, and worth anyone's time IMO, the ending felt slapped together in a big hurry just to "wrap up" the main arc in some kind of satisfying manner. And there were still unanswered questions.

But you're right about AMC ignoring it. No DVD set, much less a BD set yet, and my inquiries to AMC about it have not been answered. It doesn't appear to be available in any of the streaming services either.

BTW - Rubicon had one of the best theme song/opening montages ever! I'd want the shiny disks just to hear that again.

Agreed. I'd rather have another season or even half a season than the killing (even though I like that show Rubicon was far superior IMO). Maybe too smart and too serial for the gen pop though. The show was just getting to the meat and since it got the axe late, they didn't have time for a proper ending. It's one of those shows I still miss.

I agree that Rubicon's intricacy and serialized storyline probably hurt it with the masses. That's too bad. Like you and many others I liked the show a lot and was deeply disappointed when it was cancelled.

Rubicon was an excellent show, especially the last several episodes.
Truxton Spangler, what a character.

A very complex and enigmatic character, besides, who could ignore a character with a name like that?

Nobody does complex and enigmatic better than Spangler. He played a recurring role as the estranged husband of one of the regulars on Smash this season. He was sly and enigmatic but with it all, oddly charming.
