I guessing the you are probably recording the 2nd airing during the weekend, which is the episode from last week.

Go to LegendOfTheSeeker.com and look at the synopsis page. That not only has all of the synopses, but is a defacto air schedule as well.

The schedule there is for the PRIMARY airing for the weekend. The station may air the show again later in the weekend and that is normally the SECONDARY airing, or, the primary episode from the week previous.

So, for this weekend, the primary episode is LG101 (the first half of the 2hr premiere) and the secondary episode is LG107.

Make sure you are watching the appropriate airing on your station.

Shouldn't the episodes be flagged correctly for the DirecTV box to be able to record them when the series recording is set to "first run only"?

Anyway, I just found out "Identity" really is "Identity" and the one I'm missing is "Elixir" so I'll have to find it elsewhere. :/

I suspect you're right, but I'm just wondering why the DirecTV box is screwing up the recording as it should only be capturing "new" episodes rather than the second-runs.

That is something you have to take up with D*. I agree with you that the secondary airings of episodes is not first run. On the other side of the coin, if the episode was not capture the first time around, it would be caught the next week.

Call D* and ask (the front-line person probably has no clue).

If D* is flagging both airings over the weekend as first run, just delete the one that yuou don't need.

The listings for Seeker have been a mess ever since the show started, I've got Media Center and also Directv and they both listed the episodes wrong, I have two stations locally carrying the show and they even have different listings on the same night, even though they both show the same episode, and both stations listed the incorrect episode that was actually showing, it's a total mess as far as the guides go.

Sounds like everyone needs to keep an eye on the official web site to know what
episodes are airing.

I do, my stations carry the weekly feed at the same time every week, and don't show any of the repeats that I have found. I'm not sure where the fault is, but the listings have really been a mess.

So according to the official site, we're in reruns until 1/10/09.

The airing of the secondary episodes are done under separate contract. Just because you have a contract to air the primary episodes, it does not allow you to air the secondary episodes.

What I find a llittle strange is that for the first couple of weeks of Feb sweeps, they are airing repeats.

A question has come up, to which I do not know the answer.

How many hours are supposed to comprise the first season, 22, 24, 26, less?

Back in the days when Trek was syndicated, there were 26 hours in a season.

You very likely won't ever see 26 episodes a season ever again. 24 is rare, though "24" would be one exception. 22 has become common for successful network shows.

16-18 is common for cable and syndicated fare, with a few creeping up toward 22. Some more expensive cable series will sit at no more than 13.

Is this show still being distributed in HD? WGN America HD has been carrying it in 4:3 lately. I don't have access to any other HD stations that carry it, so I can't check.

WGN-HD America has flubbed before on HD. Hopefully they will reshow it (Denna) in HD next week before the new episode (Puppeteer), like they have done in the past.

Anybody know how long it usually takes for them to show up on hulu? Their 480P videos are about as good as a standard DVD, I have 2 local HD stations and neither show it in HD. Hulu is the best legal means to watch the show for me.

Yep, and if you want to see next week's episode's promo, in 720p HD, head on over to my simple LotS web page.

It is 720p as 1080i is more difficult to do in H.264 correctly and keep the file size down. 720p plays better on most computers as well.

Not a must-see for myself, but I've watched it a few times. I'm guessing Seeker is shot digitally and grain added for effect; when I watched last week, it (the grain) was static and unmoving from scene to scene. Very unconvincing effect.

1) It is supposed to remind you of Hercules and Xena. Those two shows had/have a huge following.

2) If you don't care for this type of show, why are you posting here? Lots of people like those so-called reality shows (don't know why) as well. I don't. That is why various kinds of shows exist. If all of us only liked procedural dramas, it would get pretty boring really fast.

The actress that played Denna just didn't do it for me. I pictured her completely different. However, I really liked this episode, the torture scene was pretty brutal.

I've completely lost all objectivity with this series. All I can see now is all the great dramatic opportunities missed and all the other things I don't like about the script writing.

I probably would have been happy with the Denna episode if all the rest of episodes had stuck to developing the high concepts by lifting scenes from the book like the Denna episode did. But after all the other bad episodes, all I was able to think about was how I would have written the episode.

For example, I wouldn't have had Richard chained-up at all. I would have used the scene from the book where one of the mord-sith makes a trainie stand on a gob of his bloody spit and then tells him if he can walk out the door he can have his freedom (IIRC it wasn't Richard in the book, but I would have made it Richard for this series). IMHO, that scene does a better job of showing his will being broken better than having him chained up.

Oh well. At least this episode was an improvement over the the previous episodes. They might win me back if they keep improving.

As can be seen by the new American Idol thread posted above. This show is simple escapism for the RPG fans (of which I am one), that's all.

Is it just me or is Zed as useless as tits on a bull most of the time? I know he said he couldn't use his magic because of Denna, but he doesn't do much with it most of the time anyway. Sometimes I think he's there just because they need a Gandalf clown but he's not that funny either. I guess his role is to spit out 'Seeker lessons' and hope that Richard doesn't take a swing at him.

Hmmm, actually I was thinking the opposite, well not completely. I was surprised they used him as much as they have. He has vaporized a few people with his wizard fire. I figured, like most fantasy shows and movies, the wizards would just be there. Heck Zed has done more then Gandalf in all the movies, at least in terms of effect.

I was thinking though if he is such a powerful wizard why he doesn't do more then just his fire. Cool to see him vanish last episode, but it seems to be mostly wizards fire and not much else.

In the books, Zed doesn't do a lot either. Mostly just covering their trail and messing around with the clouds that they tag onto items that they're trying to track and he used his fire a lot less in the books. IOW, he's there to cover plot holes that would otherwise have to be glossed over.

Of course, it's supposed to a story about Richard and the decisions he makes. If Zed is eliminating all the dangers with his wizard powers then Richard doesn't have any tough decisions to make.
