On a barely related tangent, I just found out that the woman that was in all the pictures with my daughter during the Dolphin and Whale training sessions she did in Orlando was Dawn Brancheau - the woman killed by Tilikum.

I am all for freeing all the Willies from seaworld and closing it down. How on earth can you keep a creature that large and dangerous confined and not expect tragedy? I bet if you could ask them they would rather be out at sea being chased by japanese eventhough the japs don't shoot at them as opposed to being locked up in that zoo..

You could very well be right. The problem is if the whales are born and raised in captivity, they don't not have the survival skills to make it in the ocean. In the ocean a person does not come up to you and feed you.

...let alone a documented 3-time killer on top of that!

I agree, though, he probably could not survive if released in the wild. He is also catastrophically dangerous for domestic life. He is stuck in a limbo where there is no appropriate place for him to spend his remaining living-years.

I need your sweet love, Rosetta Stone girl!

Worse than that, they say that the majority of their teeth are missing or chipped down due to the ramming they do against the metal gates when posturing against other whales in captivity.

I really could care less if they die at sea. Release them. What has more dignity? Dying in a cage as a circus act or dying in the wild where you were meant to be?

Animal Planet just greenlit a show from the dolphin activists that created "The Cove".
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/movi.../the-cove.html

Wonder if these guys will actually help their cause or will they pull a Sea Shepherd and just use it to pad their wallets.

Not a lot of exciting footage to start the new season. I am happy to see the Sea Shepherd starting out with the common FAIL. Cant even get the Bob Barker running, and the so called badass ship gets sent back for repairs lol.

It's for a television show, they want the suspense to build to hold the audience.

Yep, not the way Paul wanted to start off.

[The Bob Barker] "Hey guys, remember, we're undercover, it's crucial the Japanese don't know about us."

Japanese Research Vessel pulls up beside them.

[Japanese Research Vessel] "Hey guys, just wanted to wish you all the best of luck. What time are you leaving port? We'll just follow you out."

Too funny.

That high tech boat to me looked like a total joke. It was suppose to be a wave cutter, to me I figured it would just step on it and blast through everything. They also called it bullet proof, yet everything I saw on the show made that boat look like a pile of sh*t. Also it sure doesn't seem very bullet proof when it ends up destroyed. The Sea Stooges are just as delusional as always, so that should make for more great TV.

What? You didn't like my original thread?

Should be an entertaining season. Although I think we saw all of the major spoilers on the news these past few months. So Watkins is an Admiral now, and has a 'Fleet'. The Bob Barker may have an ice-rated hull, but everything else on that tub is FUBAR. And knowing the fate of the carbon fiber Bat Boat, just makes me laugh every time they show it.

Yes, then they will put don't ask don't tell into affect. Are you mentally ill? You are not allowed to ask that and we wont tell you.

I'm surprised the helo pilot is still even with them. He seems to be the only one with any common-sense.

The Japanese seem to be onto all their moves. Paul should just evacuate all the crew and steer the Sea Shepherd full speed into one of their ships and hope it sinks. Let the Whales feast on whatever is eatable in the water following the aftermath. That would be great for ratings!

ROTFLMAO!!!!!

FYI if you own or rent the 1st? Season of Penn & Teller's BULLSH*T one episode documents how Watson has tried that act before. I guess the only reason he's not doing time in an Icelandic prison now is because of an international dispute over who had jurisdiction to prosecute him. anyway I suspect he knows that kind of vandalism(& the chance of someone getting killed) would be a TEENY bit of a PR setback. and the Aussie government may not be willing to cover for him in that event.

I've only seen the trailer so far & Watson has ramped up the creepiness level.

"Are you ready to risk your life?" (not ME of course-but I'll be watching safe on the bridge
drafting the press release).

I'll repeat what someone in the old thread proposed-something like a 25mm round in the engine room of Watson's rustbucket(after a loud-hailer warning to evacuate). now THAT would be a ratings bonanza.

"increasing vision is increasingly
expensive"- R. A. Janek

We'll see how they attempt to counteract Japan's aerial military intelligence gathering. I loved those yellow metal rails at the ship's side they dropped. Not sure what they plan when the Japanese military tethers down a helicopter line.
