A little bit paint-by-numbers, but I still really liked the ep.

Yes ... it was a theme. Sadly, I picked the perp on first sight, although it was still fun to watch the Beckett/Castle banter for the rest of the ep..

Ditto for me, other than seeing all the DWTS(and Skating With The Stars) alumni the show didn't hold much interest for me either, better luck next week.

I agree that the histrionics this week were part of a theme. Actually, I kind of enjoyed them. I was interested to see the sensationally beautiful Rebecca Budig, a soap star, cast as a soap star in this week's Castle. I thought that was sly and kind of funny. Also it's rare to see an actress as gorgeous as Budig cast in a show starring an actress as beautiful as Stana Katic.

It was nice to see Tina Majorino, coming off her stint on Big Love as pristine good girl Heather, playing the murderer.

This week's Entertainment Weekly has an interesting article on Nathan Fillion - it makes me like him even more. There's a sidebar on the "Should they or shouldn't they?" issue, with Katic taking the stand that it could work and Fillion believing it wouldn't. Of all the couples on TV that I watch, I think the Castle/Beckett romance might have the best chance of playing out well on screen if they put them together. That's mostly because I respect the chemistry. Both of the leads are able to deliver very subtle performances and they might be able to pull it off. Still, I'd prefer not. I love the sexual tension.

Yeah, everyone had motive, and people literally burst into tears at the news of her death, but only because it meant a blow to their own careers. When the producer called for "all hands on deck" and that included the assistant who now joined the writing team, I figured it would be her. She was the only one who would be helped, not hurt, by the death of the head writer.

I wonder if the 'Hollywood types' (Directors, Producers, Writers, Network Execs.) read any of this??

It's too bad they keep blowing off any possible romantic relationship between the two stars. Just like was done with the X Files.

Most people seem to think(and I'd probably have to agree) part of the charm of Castle is the flirting between the two of them, if they became a couple much of that charm would be lost. At first I wanted them to get together but now I feel as most people in this thread seem to.

I agree. Sexually charged banter between the male and female star of a TV series without them ever actually becoming involved is the mother's milk of such shows. Exceptions have been made over the years but it usually hasn't worked, which is the reason, of course, why showrunners usually avoid doing it.

I never looked at it that way. I guess you guys have a point there. It's just that so many times something happens and with the next episode, it's as the previous situation never happened.

The best example was the X Files. The very next episode was business as usual.

But, it didn't stop them in the books though!

Haven't read a Castle book; in my reading, I draw the line at books that have been ghostwritten for a fictional author.

I never looked into it but, I then assume Fillion is not a actual writer?

I thought he was referring to the sex scene in the fake books discussed in one of the episodes.

Looks like they really have released some Richard Castle books and are using Fillion's image.

Richard Castle

I couldn't find anything about who's doing the ghost writing, but I also didn't look very hard.

Excellent episode.

In other news, my recording caught part of the ending of Dancing with the stars. Didn't know that fat ass Kristy Alley is in that show. That's hilarious, I hope she wins.

Thoughts on last night's episode?

Although we called it again with the perp, my wife and I enjoyed it - the various Nick's were pretty funny, and I liked the nod to one of my favorite movies...

I think the last 2 or 3 episodes have been utterly forgettable. Hopefully the show will pick up for the remaining ones.

Meh, bland.

Liz Vassey is nice. Although, she seems like she's from something else too (no not investigating murders show). I thought it was Krista Allen at first. I miss her.

Next episode looks good.

Yeah, Castle's formula is wearing very, very thin for me right now. Every episode since the two-parter has been bland at best. I've had trouble keeping my eyes open for three consecutive Monday nights.
