Fillion apparently was not the star of Two Guys. According to IMDB, two other actors, plus an actress, had higher billing. Also those three appeared in all 81 episodes of the series, whereas Fillion appeared in only 60. I believe that Firefly was Fillion's first starring gig.

True, he wasn't the main star, but he was a rather involved secondary character.

I wasn't that familiar with Fillion's work until Castle came along but I watched Serenity yesterday and was very impressed. His character is similar to Castle in many ways and Fillion pulls it off expertly.

If all you've seen is Serenity you HAVE to see Firefly.

I'm in more suspense over how his pursuit of the case, against her wishes, will effect their relationship.

you should watch the final season of Buffy. He's not such a nice guy in that.

What are you talking about, he wasn't on the last season of Buffy.

(okay, he was great, but I refuse to acknowledge that season happened)

I'm glad to see the reruns of Castle. Our ABC affiliate was having some technical issues with a few of the original telecasts, and they weren't worth keeping on my DVR. I just did a marathon viewing of the eps that I saved, and I had so much fun watching them again. I heard a lot in the dialogue that I just flat out missed before.

I was struck especially by Stana Katic's expressions as Castle explained why a beautiful woman like her would become a cop in New York. Seeing the subtle emotions cross her face as he got closer and closer to the truth about her motivations was a master class in nuanced acting. I love the Booth/Bones chemistry, but I think the Castle/Beckett chemistry is even better.

I love Castle's mother and daughter - absolutely charming, both of them. Beckett's 2 assistants haven't come into their own yet, I think, but there's a lot of potential there, too. So happy to learn that this show was renewed.

Glad to see this show back. For some reason the first 5-10 minutes wasn't widescreen.

Castle is one of my guilty pleasures. I love the interaction between him and Beckett. He actually learned some sensitivity last night as well. Good job all around.

I haven't had a chance to watch yet, but a storm in St. Louis interrupted my Dish recording. I caught it at about half way through and switched over to an OTA recording, but I'm not sure how much I missed. May have to catch it online. Damnation. I really like this show.

Last night's episode was very good with some sharp writing that was comparable to the first several shows of last season. Besides, any episode that has Stana doing a quick strip down to a delicious red bra is all good for me She is quite stunning. Of course the ultimate cliche is that Castle and Beckett are crazy about each other and are, as is always the case, the only ones who don't know it. Even Castle's daughter and bats#&t crazy mother know it but it going to be fun to see how the inevitable conclusion plays out.

I really, really like Castle -- both the character and the show. Nathan Fillion, as Castle, and Stana Katic, as Detective Beckett, are terrific. They are incredibly good looking and charming and know their way around the comedy-drama format. I also like the actresses who play Castle's daughter and mother. What's interesting is that they even look quite a bit alike.

This weeks show was typical Castle fluff, with a little excitement and a lot of laughs. Based on this first episode of the new season, it looks as if Castle has not lost a step. Nobody does this kind of thing better than Fillion.

I'm just glad that I happened to check to see if this was a new episode because I haven't seen one single commercial for this show coming back.

I agree that the show seems to have picked up with the same level of writing and acting as last year. There does seem to be a softer look for Stana than last year, with a slightly warmer tone to her makeup. It's subtly better. She's so pretty that I had no complaints before, but I like this look even better. I think of this show as one that started really strong and has the potential for Bones-like "legs." I don't think Nathan Fillion got a chance to show his considerable charm and rapid fire delivery nearly enough in Firefly, but in Castle it just pops out of the screen.

Fun show...glad it's back. Stana is HOOOOTTTTTT...coupled with the fact that she's a very smart actress with timing that matches Fillion makes the show. The cases aren't formulaic, they're pretty smart and serve as a nice outline for what the show is really about...them. Moonlighting and now Bones are the model, but I agree, I think these guys are doing it better. They'll rewind and unwind the sexual and emotional tension for the life of this series. I wonder how many dream episodes we'll get before it's done (they can get it on and not break the rules).

I don't lurk as much as I used to and I NEVER listen. Comes from being old and cynical.

As usual, I loved this episode, but the plot seemed awfully familiar. I know I've seen a show recently about several people committing murders for one another so they'd have alibis. Maybe Monk? It's teasing me from the back of my brain. Anybody else remember something like this?

Doesn't matter. These characters are really clicking.

I agree that this season has picked up nicely from the last one. Castle has become one of my favorite shows mostly because of Fillion.

I thought this episode was truly great. The interactions between the characters really clicked and the betting subplot really added a lot of humor.

The only thing I felt was a bit "off" was the daughter's comments that clued Castle into the solution. Just felt a bit forced to me, but those scenes usually do (same with when they use the poker buddies to do it).

Overall great episode though.

Watched this show for the first time last week, hell, I thought it was a new show for this season. While watching the episode I kept thinking, "My God, they aren't explaining jack about how this writer hooked up with the detective!"

And to find out I've missed Season 1, time to hit the internets....

Currently testing 3D with Sammy DLP, shutter glasses, and HTPC

I hate Castle. Can't stand it. Will be glad when it is cancelled.

I'm preparing myself mentally for the day when ABC does the next boneheaded thing and cancels a witty, well written dramedy like this one. The interactions between Castle and Beckett have gotten even better than in the first episode of the season. It looks like they have hit their stride in timing.

Reverse psychology. Seems as good a tactic as any to me.

Castle and Beckett - even better than Booth and Bones, and I love Booth and Bones.

The Strangers on a Train gag has been done several times in my memory...probably on all the CSIs, but it worked last night because most of us were hoping to see the bet played out and some shaved head, cross-dressing detectives. Couldn't have cared less about the crime. I was bummed that they didn't have a winner and I was secretly hoping that our protagonists lost the bet and had to pay up .

Fillion in a dress? Didn't we see that in Firefly? Castle could make it work, too, and it would be hilarious.

Beckett in a dress? Spectacular. Beckett bald? I'd have no trouble dealing with that either.

I'm sure the writer's thought about it, but unless they got Stana to agree to cut her hair very short and put on bald makeup (so that there would be some continuity in later eps) it wasn't going to happen. Bet it was pitched though .
