If you want to see fat on Mythbusters, watch the episode where they tested to see if shrinking blue jeans while wearing them could cut off your circulation. Grant had a very unattractive "muffin top" which hung farther and farther over the waist band as the pants shrunk. I bet he started doing sit-ups after the episode aired.

What they do with the other girl? Fire her?

She was weird looking. Why they even felt they needed a female guest host?

I guess for ratings.

"Fire her?" She was just filling in for Kari while Kari was off on maternity leave. What's so hard to understand?

I'd probably be happy to just stand between them.

Or I'd make them share the crackers.

It feels like they are running out of myths to bust. That soccer ball off the back of the truck thing was pretty weak as concept. Still pretty entertaining to watch them build and test, but ultimately they are going need myths to bust.

Yeah, that really wasn't much of a myth. I don't know how many people would say afterwards, "I'll be darned. The laws of physics are correct."

What next? Dropping cannon balls of different weights off a building to see if they hit the ground at the same time?

They've already done that (actually -- with a feather in a vaccuum vs. other heavy objects).

What really seems to be missing with these myths isnt really the myth itself but how they explained the results.

It's not the answer that's so much fun, its the why.

But when testing laws of physics, we already know why. To me it's the work they put into testing them that gets me. It seemed like canceling out the forward and backward momentum of an object would be so easy but it was much harder than they thought to get them to cancel out exactly.

Occasionally they'll get a completely surprising result, like using the aircraft slide as a "parachute".

Laws of physics test was boring, I forward over it.

Spy test was alright.

They are running out of myths to test, and just making up excuses to destroy things.

I'd agree that watching them test the "myth" of physics is underwhelming. The spy gar gadgets was pretty fun, though.

Most weeks, I'd be just as happy with a half-hour show with Jaime/Adam and leave out the former "Mythterns". The two halves of the show never even interact anymore.

I think alot of people would agree that the build team is the weak link on the show. I guess they have their own warehouse and crew to do their myths which is why we never see all of them working together anymore. However, the build team is usually the team that will just completely skip over safety and do the most reckless thing possible. Tori on the treadmill, and dropping a boat onto the crane come to mind first.

I agree abotu the safety aspect (I spend part of my life as a safety engineer). I'm not sure if the "last minute phone call" was staged or not to provide "drama" for us. But I couldn't believe they were going to shoot an actual person off a treadmill on a moving truck when a weight would serve the same purpose.

Just like the "hanging form a ledge" myth. They could just have a ledge 6' off the ground and puck up their feet, but they decide to go with a 75' building because it would be more "authentic". And it bites them in the behind with a trip to the ER. I thought maybe thye would learn smoething from that, but this proved me wrong.

I realize that most of the dialog on the show is probably scripted anyway, but they also don't do nearly as good of a job at delivery as Adam/Jaime.

I don't really care about the myths I think. I was too busy starring at Kari's chest anyway.

As for the "gravity" myth, how bout if we just thinking about it like a Brainiac show?

Regarding safety, in a way I've come to view MythBusters as the closest thing the US has to Top Gear. They've done some really questionable things on Top Gear, resulting in a few injuries ranging from minor to serious. Thankfully there haven't been any serious injuries for the MythBusters crew, but I'm kind of thinking that it's just a matter of time.

My favorite lack of safety from the build team was when they were testing if some exploding cylinder was lethal. (i forget the exact myth) They went way overboard reinforcing where it was suppose to fire into... only to forget to strap the thing to the table. so when it exploded the cylinder shot across the room away from all that reinforcement.

I was like "how do you not strap that down?"

Some of the best "myths" are the alcohol-related ones. Tori always ends up doing something stupid, nearly getting hurt every time. Good stuff.

Currently testing 3D with Sammy DLP, shutter glasses, and HTPC
