Entertaining... the Jr. Mythbusters must love New Mexico Tech. A new place to blow up even bigger things, and the employees do most of the work leaving them to just walk around and pose for the camera.

For Jaime and Adam's myth I enjoyed seeing hte results, but I'm a bit stumped as to why they felt the need to not be able to hear. Or why they didn't have an actual blind person perform the test.

Because if they could hear -- something they could hear could have helped them out with their orientation -- such as a freeway to the south, airport to the north, etc. If they were in a wheat field in the middle of Kansas, or somewhere, sound suppression would noy have been needed.

Neither story this week was lame or stupid. The use of "meandering GPS" signals to make a graph was a bit overkill as it was VERY clear that nothing even approaching a straight line was happening.

I know it's silly, but my heart skipped a beat when they were mixing it and started shaking it up in the jars.

Yes, I know you could hit the jar with a hammer and nothing will happen.

Agreed - the foot stomper and Grant's guillotine were both nice builds. (Although as they showed with Grant's - lucky that no one was hurt.)

I wonder if the two teams even see one another any more. Feels like two completely different shows sfulled together at times.

I am pretty sure that each team now has their own shop. Which is understandable considering I have read that Jaime is a meticulous dick about keeping M5 (his shop) just the way he likes it.

In other news, it still seems that if there is going to be a horrible accident on this show, it will be the build team that has it happen. It now longer seems Adam is blowing himself up anymore.

The show doesn't get better than this. Both myths involved explosions, one involved using something for a completely unintended purpose, and Kari looked gratuitously hot in every scene.

'MythBusters' misfire sends cannonball through neighborhood
Wednesday, December 07, 2011 by Angle J.

A cannonball fired by the "Mythbusters" TV show plowed through a Northern California house, struck the roof of another house and smashed through a minivan's window in a science experiment gone wrong.

The mishap occurred Tuesday while the Discovery Channel show was testing out whether other materials are just as effective as a cannonball when fired from a cannon.

Instead, the mythbusters learned how effective a cannonball can be when it misses its intended target, according to KGO-TV San Francisco.

The cannonball was fired from a bomb range in Dublin, about 35 miles east of San Francisco in Alameda County. It was supposed to hit trash cans but instead soared 700 yards into the home of a sleeping couple, leaving a 10-inch hole in the bedroom wall.
The cannonball was traveling as fast as a bullet. It exited the house, bounced across four lanes of traffic, struck the roof of another house and then smashed through the window of a parked minivan.

No one was injured.

Neighbors said "MythBusters" often tries its experiments in the area, and they have grown used to hearing explosions.

I wonder how they will handle this on the show?
Will they embrace or ignore?
Will they can this episode?

I say embrace, as a special "safety" issue. Shows even taking the most precautions, things can still go wrong - why you should not try it at home, etc!

There will not be any show about it while there is an investigation going on. This is why you aren't hearing a peep from anybody involved. Putting in the public in danger like this is not going to be good for the show. There will be some type of repercussions.

It's not the first time things have gone wrong, they had an episode about why they can never go back to Esparto, California. Apparently they set off an explosion that was "bigger than expected" and shattered several windows over a mile away.

Well with what these people do every episode something like this is bound to happen sooner or later as long as no one gets hurt then it is kind of funny.

You can never judge a show by its pilot episode or the half season following it.

Just to be clear Jamie and Adam wher not involved in the indicdent it was Tory, Grant and Kari. Which in retrospect isn't shocking.

Exactly my thought when I read it was Tory, Grant, and Kari. I also read that they promised the families that they wouldn't air the footage. They probably didn't have any good footage anyway, it's not like they had cameras setup in the neighborhood.

Currently testing 3D with Sammy DLP, shutter glasses, and HTPC

My thought as well. Was anyone else having flashbacks of Top Gun when they tried the "conga line" with the airplanes? Didn't seem to be the best idea to me.

That whole segment was fairly silly with the typical Mythbusters claim of "confirmed" or "busted" with pretty sketchy statistical evidence to back it up. What is the flight-to-flight variance in the plane's fuel consumption? Why did the lead plane have a better fuel savings (5%) than the following plane (3% and 5%)?
