I couldn't find a thread for this. If there's a thread, please delete or merge.

This thread is a couple months a head of it's time. It'll be ready for the series premier on Monday, June 8, 2009 at 10:30 PM ET/PT.

Three-time Emmy® winner Edie Falco stars in the highly anticipated new Showtime Original Series NURSE JACKIE. Surviving the chaotic grind of saving lives in a hectic New York City hospital, Jackie's got her work cut out for her. But even with chronic back pain that doesn't quit, this sharp-witted woman of substance knows how to handle it all. With a white lie here, a bent rule there, and a steady dose of pain relievers, Jackie does whatever it takes to get the job done - and done right. Don't miss this smart and bitingly funny new comedy series, NURSE JACKIE
http://www.sho.com/site/nursejackie/home.do

I'm hoping to enjoy this series. Showtime always does a great job with their original programming. Will bump this thread on June 8th or 9th.

I'll check it out for sure. Season 2 of True Blood starts the following week on HBO. Looks like some good TV for the summer!

Anybody with Directv On-Demand, the Pilot episode is available in HD now. It's in the Instant Play now on my DVR, so you don't even have to download it. I've only watched the first 4 or 5 minutes so far. The language is rough, make sure you get the HD version from Showtime and not Showtime Family if you want the unedited version.

Watched the first episode, no spoilers. The video was very grainy. I liked it well enough to keep watching, she's a fairly likable character.

The question is "Does it justify a Showtime subscription?".

Now way I could answer that question, it's going to be shown with Weeds, so it should make for a nice hour of TV on Mondays. Also, who knows how the show will progress, it may just get better and better or it may not. I wasn't a big fan of Weeds the first season, but it grew on me, Jackie reminds me a bit of Nancy Botwin.

I enjoyed the preview episode on D*. My sister (who's an ultrasound tech) thought it was hysterical and well versed in the world of nurses.

We set a season pass, but haven't watched the pilot yet. We just watched Weeds. From the previews it looks interesting.

Having gone through similar hospital situations recently I was laughing about how incompetent the medical field is.

This is going to be good.

I had originally intended not to watch Nurse Jackie because I feared it would be like Holly Hunter's Saving Grace, which, despite Holly Hunter's presence, I HATED. Not to worry, I was wrong and the show seems to me not at all similar to Saving Grace.

Edie Falco is an amazing actress as she proved again in the pilot episode of this new Showtime series. Nurse Jackie, the character, has a finely tuned set of situational ethics, which allow her to be either saint or sociopath, depending on the circumstances. No matter, I love her to death already. The rest of the cast is a match for Falco, particularly the wonderful British stage actress, Eve Best, and Paul Schulze, who played Father Phil on the Sopranos. The show is off to a great start. Highly recommended!

I've watched the first two episodes via On Demand and really like the show. It's tough, gritty and Edie Falco is amazing. The supporting cast is excellent as well, especially Haaz Sleiman. If you want to get a good look at his work, rent a copy of "The Visitor". He is terrific in it.

I liked the pilot and the end was quite a shock. It was good to see that Carmella and the priest finally got what they wanted.

I watched the pilot last night. I liked it far more than I was expecting. And the ending was a complete surprise. Why does she remind me of a Nurse/Female version of Gregory House?

Really enjoyed the pilot. Was able to drag my nurse wife away from her Thai soaps (lakorn) for 30 mins, and she enjoyed it as well.

I watched the premier episode via Comcast On Demand HD. I enjoyed the episode, but probably isn't enough for me to spring for a subscription to Showtime.

I know some nurses that talked about the recent "Nurse Jackie" premier on Showtime and found her behavior objectionable and degrading to the nursing profession. I know its only a fictionalized drama, spiced up to make nursing "entertaining," but if she were a "real life" nurse behaving in that way in a hospital or clinical setting she would be terminated. But, hey, that's show business!!

I believe you missed the whole point of the first show.

This is one of those shows I really want to like, but, for about the first time with SHO or HBO half hour series, I was disappointed. But based on these posts I plan to rewatch the pilot, and give the next couple of episodes a chance.

Good episode last night.
Dr. Eleanor O'Hara is pretty. She seems like a total fashion chick. Throwing away new clothes like that.
Dr. Fitch Cooper is something else. Wonder if he's on drugs.

I've caught it early on Direct on Demand the last 2 weeks, but have rewatched on SHO... I like this show, it's quirky and isn't the "cookie cutter" medical show like some...
