I couldn't find a thread for this. If there's a thread, please delete or merge.

Tonight is the series premier of The Listener on NBC HD.

http://www.nbc.com/the-listener/

I'm not too sure about this show. I'll give it a watch tonight.

Yeah, I liked it too. A little formalistic, but then we already have Medium and Ghost Whisperer with similar themes.

The one thing I REALLY liked about it was that it was filmed and set in Canada. I'm so tired of every show being set in NYC, or LA and often Chicago. A lot of shows are filmed in Canada but set in the US, at least this one does not try to fake where they are.

I watched both episodes last night. I like the show. Reminds me of the show "Hack" that aired on CBS. His lady police friend is always doubting him.

If you have this show on a TiVo season pass - record new episodes only, you will probably need to manually add in next Thursday's recording once TiVo updates.

The episode that was supposed to add last night was preempted by the MJ/FF specials, but TiVo will think it's already recorded it and/or that it isn't new.

I thought this show was just "ok". Kind of slow paced for me but maybe when the characters develop further my opinion will change. Right now I'm kind of sour on it

Do not disassemble, No.5 ALIVE!!!

Seems like pretty good chemistry between the leads on this show. Missed the first couple of eps, tho...
NBC sucks so much that my expectations are low enough to enjoy an offering like this.

Don't get too attached - NBC already cancelled it due to horrible ratings (and when a fairly cheap summer show gets canceled, you know it's doing pretty badly).

Last showing is next week, I believe.

Well, I figured it was short lived. But thanks for the info anyway. I won't be shedding any tears, it was just a nice escape for a bit.

I thought it was a Canadian production that was aired on Canadian Television that NBC just picked up, because I watched it several months ago before it aired in the states.

Just found this:

"Americans have stopped listening to The Listener, but Canadians still can eavesdrop for now.

NBC has decided it will not air new episodes of the Canadian and Toronto-set drama The Listener after next week, leaving five episodes on the shelf, due to low ratings in the United States.

In Canada, however, The Listener is a modest summertime hit and CTV will continue to air new episodes until the full 13-episode first season is complete.

What NBC's bailing means to the prospects of a second season for The Listener remains to be seen (or heard, as the case may be). "

I hope there is a second season. I thought it was better than most ABC entire lineup!!!

I stopped watching when it became obvious that his "powers" seemed to change based on the needs of the plotline. The original premise seemed to be hearing other people's thoughts, then later, he's seeing mental images of what the people are thinking. Then suddenly it's back to just hearing the thoughts again...

It wasn't consistent.

According to the Variety article, CTV, NBC, and Fox International were all splitting the costs of production.

Since NBC will no longer be kicking in money for production, possible future seasons wouldn't be so cheap for CTV.

While it wasn't stealing entertainment of the highest quality, it was a fun summer show. I cold tune in and watch it without over taxing my brain.

NBC has some real issues to deal with and I have no idea what they will plug in it's slot, but whatever it is I won't be watching. Soundstage, and Royal pains are on at the same time and instead of grabbing the second broadcast of each I'll grab one the first time out.

Anyone still watching this show. I just watched the first episode from last week of the new season on CTV. Is it gonna be shown in the US? Most likely not due to the NBC split right?

I'm still watching this show for some silly reason. Start of the third season, last week.

I like the direction this season is going. More involvement with solving crimes makes better use of his developing powers.

I still watch this one mostly in a show of support for the Canadian TV industry. I much preferred the first season's darker and more serious tone. This season is more of a Hawaii Five-O type silliness, with Oz just having brief comedy bits every vew minutes.

It does seem to have that CBS-like procedural feel to it this series, "The Mentalist" except this guy really can read minds.

Did we ever find out about his mother, and wasn't there some mystery surrounding her and his ability that someone/entity was after?
