Hung is beginning to hit its stride. I love the psychotic honey who keeps having Ray do strange things. Nobody is better as a beautiful, charming neurotic with a core of self centered nastiness than Anne Heche, who plays Ray's ex wife. I have also enjoyed Jane Adams as Tanya Skagle, Ray's pimp. Adams is a fine actress and has impeccable comic timing. It's not surprising that she won a Tony Award. It's becoming clearer and clearer that Ray is too trusting for his own good.

If he has to choose between being a successful coach again and being an escort, it's no decision. The escort side is barely a hobby at this point and not exactly buying his way to a better life. There's no pride vs wealth issue here. He could just stick with Jemma as his one client/girlfriend and he gets the best of both worlds.

While my GF and I watch and really like this show, I definitely agree. The money *does* seem to be paying for his house to be rebuilt, but it doesn't seem that anything would happen if he quits the escort job and doesn't get the house rebuilt.

This Jemma arc does seem to be quite premature. However, this arc could also be "his lesson" for mixing his day job with his night job. If the neighbor's wife story develops and Ray sleeps with her, certifiably insane Jemma could use her new-found knowledge to completely disrupt and manipulate Ray for revenge.

Moreover, Jemma actually HAS a "pimp" personality. She does as she pleases, makes demands, and gets what she wants. And right now she might be playing Ray making him feel like she loves him (a typical pimp-prostitute relationship). I could see some conflict between Jemma and Tanya escalating quite a bit. Maybe Jemma even trying her hand and pimping Ray.

Frankly, I can see this drama heating up quite a bit in a number of different ways. I'm definitely not willing to throw in the towel on Hung.

I commented on the same thing at the beginning of this thread. However, I've changed my mind as it shows the lives of "sports hero" Ray and his "head cheerleader" ex-wife are less than perfect since their high school days - including their children.

Agreed. The kids are cast exactly how the creators intended them to be cast and it's for a reason.

Jemma...she's hot. Bad business for 'what's his face' to mix business with emotion.

huh?

Good episode last night. Sucks how she stood him up for the boat-date.
I liked the topless wealthy neighbor. That scene was hot

I enjoyed last night's episode, too. I sort of liked Tanya's new squeeze. He looked and sounded like a slightly seedy version of Owen Wilson but the disfiguring tats on his arms were a distraction. It was a pleasure to see Rhea Perlman as Tanya's mother. She is a wonderful comic actress and doesn't work enough.

I had thought at first that after Ray finished his Liaison with his sexy neighbor she would demand payment from him. I was slightly disappointed when she merely declared that it was a freebie in return for Ray not receiving any more citations.

Liked the addition of Tanya's new BF and a bit on the background of her character. The neighbor angle adds a lot of interesting possibilities. Also, bonus points for being a 'kid-free' episode.

Ha, now that you mentioned it, I can see a resemblance.
Yeah, the no more citations sucked. It could get interesting later, though.

Edit: Tanya's poetry was funny.

Yes, somewhat. He needs more of a pot belly like PSH had in Boogie Nights. This show is going well, hopefully there will be a "next season".

Hung reminds me a little of Boogie Nights, which I was thinking about earlier today. Philip Seymour Hoffman was at the top of his game in that film as were several others. I particularly enjoyed Julianne Moore's poignant performance as an aging porn actress.

I liked the episode last night. His new client saying "Lets f*ck" over and over was a bit funny. There was some other good moments during last nights episode, but I forgot about them.

All I could say about last night's episode was WTF? Only true revelation was that Bill's GF/lawyer just hired him to dump him like she's been dumped several times before. Other than that the episode wasn't as good as the last couple of weeks

I agree that this week's episode was not as consistently entertaining as some earlier episodes were. Still, I liked the scene at the dinner table, particularly the son's tongue stud and attendant lisp. I also enjoyed the reaction of the ex-wife's new husband when Ray asked him why in the world his wife dumped Ray in favor of the new guy.

Who is Bill? I think you mean Ray. In any case, I thought that was a pretty big revelation. He knew that getting into the business meant that he would be used, but now he feels it emotionally. How he deals with that will probably be fodder for future episodes.

I am glad that Jeema is gone. Not so much because I disliked her but because I was worried that the show would wuss out on further developing the prostitution angle in a side tracked storyline of Ray falling in love.

The actress that played Jeema was absolutely gorgeous, so I will miss that as well as missing her completely bizarre demands of Ray. I was hoping she was a delusional schizophrenic instead of a bitter woman trying to play out revenge on some former man in her life.

No, actually I think they played it out well. I did not see that coming, and she played the part very well -the character not the actress.

I really want them to ramp up the action though, it's really moving too slow. Truth be told odds are it would be even slower in real life, but I think we need a little time compression here. I'm getting tired of the tent, he would not be able to get away with that, he would have to have a functioning bathroom, get him back into the under constructiuon house at least.

Agreed. Loved Jemma but time to move on. The next door neighbor (wife) inviting Ray to stay "just to be" neighborly would rock.

I'm gonna miss Jemma. I didn't catch it at first, but Jemma was played by Natalie Zea, who also played Karen Darling on Dirty Sexy Money.

Completely different character and the slightly different look threw me off. I knew I recgonized her from somwhere, but couldn't place it.

I'm straight down the middle with this show now. I neither love it nor hate it. It does bring back memories of The Riches. The problem with Lipkin's previous show was that it had no clear identity and wasn't sure what it was trying to be. Some weeks it was dark and grimly amusing and other week's it turned into broad comedy. And when it did it was at it's weakest.

I'm seeing the same trend here. The pacing is uneven and it's not sure if it wants to be a dramedy as it was this week or a straight up black comedy as it was in earlier weeks.

And I don't think they ever said Jemma was a lawyer. I think they may have said what she did, but it was not the practice of law.

My wife and I continue watching the show, but I don't think it's much of a comedy. There are a few funny moments, but it's definitely dramedy, heavy on the drama. For me I am finding the Tanya stuff outside of the pimp angle to be kind of a bore. Maybe it's because, IMHO, she's really ugly. Even worse than a "plain jane," and I guess that is part of the character story, but she's not a sight for sore eyes by any stretch of the imagination.

I see this kind of thing over and over on the internet. If someone isn't a supermodel, then they are automatically ugly. E-standards seem to be getting higher and higher every day.

I agree. Sometimes the immaturity and sexism displayed here kind of takes your breath away.

I love the Tanya character because, as she is played by the wonderful Tony Award winning actress, Jane Adams, she is a three dimensional human being. Adams is in her mid 40s and is certainly not traditionally beautiful but she is appealing, to me at least. Adams is the antithesis of the luminously beautiful but only marginally talented young and not so young actresses who flood the airways, think Elizabeth Berkley.

Hey, is that Frank Zappa? Mr. Zappa is my father's idol. My father had (or has?) the same type of cancer that Frank Zappa had. I'm cleaning my father's house this month, and all we listen to is Zappa music.
Bye, off to go clean house and listen to Zappa
