The entire week. Although they cut the material into pieces to make up the week so to a large degree if you see one show you see them all. Not to say I didn't enjoy the entire week.

Both these and the Paris shows were made the same way, obviously. Shoot a bunch of intros. Shoot a show in a venue, then cut it up into nightly segments. Shoot a dinner party (or tea with crumpets) and cut that up into segments. Shoot a bunch of random set-pieces that can be inserted anywhere. Shoot some featured interviews on location. Shoot b-roll of the horse. Bring it all home for editing.

It's not how other talk shows visit other cities, obviously. The whole thing has the feel of a video blog on a local access channel, as parodied by Monty Python.

More than that, it's what you get when a show isn't trying to *be* anything except itself. Impossible to pigeonhole; sans categorie.

Not always successful, not always funny. I didn't like the band, for example, and wished for more variety in the music.

But it's ultimately about Craig himself, and his innate charm, intelligence, inquisitiveness, and profound sense of the absurd. That's what shines through in these location shows, and I find it to be fascinating.

Up front The Late Late Show is the only late night talk show I record regardless of the guests. Sid the cussing rabbit, his opening with audience members and watching how guests wade their way through What's in my Box is entertaining often enough to give each episode a try.

However, I think the show is fairly easy to pigeonhole and to a large degree attempts to be something... the formula is very well defined. Perhaps too well defined and at times I wish they would break the mold and go with what potentially would be more interesting. As an example he pretty much does the identical routine with every guest regardless of how interesting or boring they may be. I'd prefer him to dig into or play off of the more interesting guests and drop his shtick. As is to a large degree his guests are irrelevant as they aren't allowed to be unique and are only there so he can perform his shtick.

I was talking specifically about the Scotland and Paris episodes. I agree with you about the routine ones.

Did DJ Qualls get away with a "f*** it" last night? They threw a flag in front of his mouth but it sounded like they forgot to censor the audio. lol

I think Craig's faux-rant over the Tweet-mail intro wore them out.

That's what I heard! I wondered about it (since they did put up the flag) so I did a quick replay and heard it again. The censors fell asleep on the job!

Nope, it was baguette (or however you spell the OOH-LA-LA thing). The French flag should've been a dead giveaway.

Now in Tucson, AZ with a cheap rabbit ears antenna in the east window at a height of 40 ft off the ground (3rd floor apt with VERY high celings). Got everything except FOX. :-/

For the Morgan Freeman interview instead of using a soft filter on the closeup camera shot they are keeping it out of focus and it looks goofy compared to the other camera shots.

Lately he has been wearing a compression glove on his left hand, the one that was badly injured and sustained extensive nerve damage in his bad car accident a few years ago. He wears it on "Through the Wormhole," the weekly science show he hosts on The Science Channel, too.

Craig mentioned on twitter he's moving to a new studio.

Only 2 weeks left in the old dark damp studio. Then the show moves to an older bigger darker damper studio. #winning #retrohashtags

Not sure what studio they are moving to, currently the show is in Stage 58.

Anyone catch the first show from the new studio? All and all not a bad upgrade although the fireplace budget could have been increased (a little). Looks like the audience has roughly doubled and the stage area is four or so times larger. Pretty much the same vibe updated to fit into a larger space.

I saw it. Pretty much agree with you on everything. Fake fireplace looked really cheap. Like the extra entrance/exit locations. Nice that there's a dedicated performance area now.

The first half hour of Monday's show went by fast. Then it came to a crawl. Couldn't wait for it to be over. Haven't watched last night's show yet.

Now if he could get some different guests. Seems like we see the same ones over and over (although some, like Ariel Tweeto, could be there more).

Lighting for the interview area seems a bit dark in the new studio.
Here's a sample from Friday.

Week 2: It's almost seems like they're trying to duplicate the ambiance of the old studio. The lighting seemed a bit brighter last week ... but it could be my imagination.
