I know it's not official, but back in July at Comic-Con I got to ask Keith Crawford, head of Adult Swim, when their stuff would finally be going HD and he stated rather assuredly that it would be happening this October.

Sadly I don't have any additional information, but I figured I may as well get this out there for anyone who may have the capability of finding out specifics on the matter.

I'm just hoping this means the end of the stupid stretch-o-vision Cartoon Network HD has at least for during Adult Swim and it'd be great to see Venture Brother season 4 in HD.

I hope that includes anime but I wouldn't bet on it.

I would doubt it if they haven't yet. Of course, I could be wrong.

I'm not going to hold my breath, but it would be nice.

They seem to have stopped any HD once the last new Star Wars Clone Wars episode aired earlier this year... and even then they were only showing the new Friday airing in HD, not the later repeats.

I'm not sure what the problem is with them showing HD actually in HD on an HD channel.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

Especially since there are some ancient articles floating around that said Cartoon Network's original programming going all the way back to Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo were HD ready.

But just looking at corporate siblings CNN, TBS, and TNT, I am not at all surprised that CN airs nothing in HD.

Like, for instance, Moribito? At least the R1 DVDs are anamorphic.

Clone Wars is airing in HD now on Adult Swim. Probably has to do more with the fact that Cartoon Network airs it in HD now more than anything.

It'll be interesting to see if Adult Swim airs anything else in HD. Titan Maximum was produced in HD and it's premiering tomorrow night, so I guess we'll know then.

I haven't been watching the repeats... but if true (not doubting you, I just can't say for myself since I didn't watch) then it marks a change of some measure... because even when they were airing the new episodes of Clone Wars in HD, they were not airing the repeats 2 days later in HD.

Not going to hold my breath... but I hope this is a sign of better things to come. They stretch a lot of stuff that they shouldn't have to, since we know a bunch of shows are produced in widescreen or HD for Cartoon Network and they just haven't aired that way.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

Cartoon Network seems to have had a change in attitude this week. All their action shows that they own or aren't anime have been airing in HD. Clone Wars marathon today has been all HD.

Either the network decided to address complaints finally, or someone is going to be fired come Monday for doing the right thing.

That's good news. Most of the stuff I watch is on repeats right now... but I'll have to spot check some of those repeats.

It would be nice if they would also stop stretching the non-HD stuff like Family Guy, Robot Chicken, etc.... and (guilty-pleasure) am hoping to see the Squidbillies in proper aspect at some point. I don't watch Venture Brothers, but I know they went HD a season back too... and Aqua Teen (another guilty pleasure) has been widescreen, if not HD, but super-stretched so I'll check for that too.

Next after that would be to fix the Anime you noted that they have also been stretching.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

So Titan Maximum didn't air in HD, but now a season 3 episode of Venture Bros is. Seems odd, but it's nice to see it in HD. I wonder if anything else will move over to HD. A pity they're not showing Superjail tonight since that is an HD show.

Cool(if it's real). Cartoon Network HD is coming to my cable lineup in October.

Sadly I think this is going to be another TNT or TBS where the commercials are proper aspect ratio and the programming is stretched.

Most of the anime they show isn't available in HD (was composed in SD) anyways. They do show some good stuff, I would hope some of the Gundam stuff would be available in HD though, that would be nice, but as already commented- I wouldn't hold my breath.

XBOX Live: Wagmman
PSN: Wagg
BFBC2: Wagman
Steam: Wag

My Second Life character looks and acts exactly like me except he can fly.

Actually for Cartoon Network HD, everything is stretched normally. The only thing not stretched is any local ads that your provider runs.

I saw Titan Maximum on Adult Swim last night and it was letterboxed. Doesn't that mean the show is hd ready?

Titan Maximum is airing in HD this week. Looks like they got everything in order now.

Anyone have any idea if Superjail aired in HD on Friday? The show is animated for it, but I missed it, so no idea.

It almost looked like the Venture Brothers repeat might have been HD as well.

Also... for about 5 seconds the other day they actually forgot to stretch an SD show (Total Drama Island I think)... but unfortunately someone noticed and flipped the stretchy-mode switch.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

Venture was HD as well last week. Looks like it's staying that way with season 3 reairs leading to the season 4 premiere.

I'm hoping other shows on Adult Swim join the HD fold when they start getting new episodes. It's really nice not to have to deal with the stretch. Now if only they'd banish it for their non-HD shows already.

Yeah, I am crossing my fingers that this is a sign of things to come... On a related note, my EPG (Dish) is currently blah with generic non-episode-specific descriptions of what is on tonight but I'm going to try and catch Squidbillies and see if that looks stretched or not.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

I'm jealous.

There's something ironic in the fact that I have the provider with the most national HD stations (FIOS) yet I'm still wanting for something that's currently available.

Well, up till two weeks ago, Cartoon Network HD was basically a useless channel, so you were missing nothing.

Now you are though

I know, which is why it annoys me whenever people go "we don't need that station because they don't show anything" since the transition can literally come overnight.

Oh well, I should have it by the end of Q1 2010. It's not like AS doesn't repeat things constantly.

At least the SD channel is amazing looking on FIOS.

I caught that too... was also curious about "Stroker and Hoop" but couldn't tell for sure if it was HD or not... Metalocalypse definitely was though.

Maybe they finally are getting on the train!

The only real way to tell is if it's letterboxed on CN SD, the logo is in the black area. If it actually is in HD on CN HD, the letterboxing is gone and the logo shows up on the material airing.

Anything not in letterbox on the SD will not be in HD on the HD feed if that makes any sense.

I get what you're saying... Sounds like then for anything in HD they will be showing in SD letterbox rather than 4:3 on the SD channel... that means maybe they are sometimes down-converting the HD feed for their SD, which might go a long way to explaining how they are suddenly doing this now.

FYI, I peeked and it looks like the "Garfield Gets Real" movie on now is actually in HD too.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!

We could now add Superjail to the AS shows now being shown in HD. So so far:
Titan Maximum
Metalocalypse
Super Jail
Venture Bros Season 3

Clone Wars shown in HD on Fridays( haven't seen repeats on other days myself if in HD)
Batman Crave and the Bold repeat in HD?
Ben 10 Alien Force repeats in HD? new episodes i think are on Fridays
Secret Saturdays repeats?

I didn't watch closely... and am not sure how many of these shows are in HD... but I didn't see obvious stretching on Chowder, Billy & Mandy, and Misadventures of Flapjack that caught bits of yesterday.

The Office was still stretched last night, but I think that show might have been SD widescreen in the UK rather than HD.

Yeah baby!  It's Halloween!
