I still don't know what a "lead" is.. I gues I'm not into sales..

What's a "lead"?
Why they spent so much money in them?
Why do they have to come in some kind of card?
Why they just won't email them or have a backup copy if something happens to them?

RIP Mom, we always love you 8/18/13

A lead is a contact name for someone who is potentially interested in purchasing a product you sell. These typically come from filling out or checking an interest from an ad in a magazine or an online site. Years ago these would have come in the form of cards, but in this day and age they should be in the form of emails. More than likely the leads would be emailed to each of the salespeople, but that would have been harder to incorporate into the storyline they created last week.

A lead is just a contact at a business or organization that is charge of their paper (and/or printers!) purchases and a pssible future sale.

Often, (and they were making it sound this way on the show), the leads are purchased from an outside marketing firm. The outside firms will charge a fairly hefty price for the leads -- since they would be valuable to other firms as well.

If you call the ABC Company and ask "Who is in charge of your paper buying?", you may not get very far. The person often will not even transfer you, they will just take dwon your information. But if you have the lead, and you know Jane Smith is this person, you may get through directly to her just by asking for her.

The leads were on cards so they could be easily split among the salespeople.

Yes, corporate probably would have copies, but Michael did not want to tell them he needed the copies because he was holding the leads hostage and accidentally got them thrown away.

This was the first episode in a while which I didn't find funny. There was one 'one note' joke: They were all saying, "Michael give us the leads." He said "no".

It didn't seem very creative. Now if they played more with the scavenger clues, or something along those lines it could have funnier.

The Erin/Andy, 'warmer, colder' thing was interesting because we didn't know where that was going for a minute.

Did you watch the part when Michael gave some of the leads to the non-sales people like Creed and Angela?

At least Michael wasn't as nasty as Alex Baldwin in doling out the leads.

Tough audience. I found this episode quite enjoyable. Every week can't be a home run but it is still better than most of what else is on in TV land.

I agree with everybody. Great episode tonight. I was laughing the whole time.

Kevin was awesome. When Erin and Andy were talking to the camera, and they open the blinds to reveal Kevin do some sexual acts, I couldn't stop laughing. Also, Kevin trying to get Pam's breasts to leak milk was funny.

'Dating Mike' got to be painful but there were a lot of funny things about the episode. I was shocked at Erin's antics coming on to the dude at the bar. Nice to see Pam again.

Indeed Angela only has the contract above Isobella, everything else Isobella's better, and that whack-an-angela at the end was pure gold, now will she really sue? I bet there's a whole episode dedicated to that..

It used to be that whenever Michael got in front of a microphone, a social tragedy was about take place. It looks like Andy has that role now.

Great episode! One of the better ones this season.
I like how Pams friend was interested in Michael until he transformed into Date Mike, then she was embarrassed and left but the bar manager was now interested, good stuff.
I agree with the Kevin bits and Creeds dance moves. Stanley doing anything to get out of work including the 25 push-ups. Angela getting swatted like a fly at the end. The Office at it's best!

Did anyone else recognize who the bar manager was? It was Amy Peitz who was Caroline's (Lea Thompson) friend in Caroline In The City (anyone remember that?).

Yup. She more recently played the lovely "Wendy Wheelchair" on an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

I recognized Amy Pietz more-so from her role in "Aliens in America" on The CW. Funny show that was sadly cancelled.

I felt that when Andy and Erin were talking about the "drama" it was the writers playing with us. Consider all the drama that happened between the a salesman and the previous receptionist (Jim and Pam). That drama went on for several seasons. The writers were making fun of it with Andy calling it out, and then at the end he just let it all out.

Good episode. I liked Dwight comparing Isabell with Angela, and how he wants a "big" family.

Creed rocks the Dance Machine! LOL!

Hey guys. What did you think of last night's show? I thought it was one of the better episodes in a while. The Kevin- Cookie Monster thing was funny and Erin took her weirdness to a new level. "When I was in foster care, my hair was my room.". OMG! Then later she told Pam "I hope you find what your looking for." after her pep talk. Jim and Pam really played the Sabre guy and Dwight was kneeling. ha.

I enjoyed it for all of its differences. We were introduced to an angry side of Erin that we otherwise would have thought never existed. Michael was more mature than usual. The insults against Kevin became a bit too mean-spirited, but that changed when he did his own hilarious impression at the end.

I love the episodes that Mindy Kaling writes; last night's episode is an instant classic. Kevin is one of my favorite "lesser" characters (and poor Toby), and to have him showcased was a nice little surprise. "'C' is for suspension."
