It was great of them to have the "what I did during the summer" stuff in the episode. The ones they shot before the fourth season started were only available at nbc.com and were really funny. It gave us a preview of Ryan's new douche bag look and attitude.

Only Michael could get the West Nile virus and talk about how great it was.

Andy: tick tick tick tick...

Agree. The spanking of his nephew and how they mocked it was pretty funny as well especially when Dwight really started to hit Andy after everyone else was only faking it.

My wife and I really enjoyed this week's premiere. We continue to be dumbfounded at NBC's decision to try to continue the show without Carrel. Seven seasons is a very good run for a sitcom and with last season clearly being the weakest (though it had its bright spots) it just seems logical to me to end it this season. Of course money always trumps logic.

On the "what I did last summer" device: I didn't necessarily have a problem with it on The Office, but I don't understand it from the documentary point of view. The crew took the summer off? I know it's just an excuse to get in the heads of the characters at this point, so it's not a big deal. It's been annoying this week seeing how many shows felt the need to contrive some back story about what happened when we weren't watching during the summer. In a lot of situations, I really don't care, or I'd rather they just pretend it's still summer and not have to adhere to the current time of year.

Great premiere. Much better than any episode from last season. Glad I picked up the season on iTunes.

Thought last week's episode was the best so far this season. The scene where Andy's phone was ringing, then followed up by the bottle rolling, and finally the balloons popping was just hilarious.

I thought it was so-so funny but an after-work musical didn't have much to do with the Office. It looked more like a plot designed for Ed Helms to act goofy for as long as possible. I like him better in smaller doses.

Funny that this thread is pretty much dead now. My theory is that The Office fans are just consuming and moving on at this point - "yeah, I watched it, don't wanna talk about it, gimmie another one." If they want to keep the show going next season (and it appears that is exactly what NBC wants) they are going to need a lot more buzz in the coming weeks. I'm personally still enjoying the show, but it's more like comfort food than anything else.

Did anyone watch 'The Sting' which aired 10/21/10? I didn't particularly care for it. I hope this season improves.

The scene with Meredith was alright. You could have predicted that would happen. Is that new salesman really going to be on the show or will he just be 'travelling'?

Andy, Darryl and Kevin jamming was ok.

I notice they are saying 'Dunder Miffelin' again. What happened to the 'Sabre' name?

I did. It was an episode mostly about Michael being Michael. Although seeing all his old girlfriends was kind of easy on the eyes.

Bringing Dwight with him was hilarious though and Andy's presentation on STD's was pretty good as well. Still really enjoying the show.

Lodef, that was "Sex Ed", which aired 10/14/10. We enjoyed that episode a lot. It was funny. Jan was great. Dwight and Michael going around making a big deal about his "herpes" was hilarious.

Your right. I'm a week behind. There was no discussion on that episode which was surprising because it was pretty good. Will be watching the Sting tonight after football.

"The Sting" was not really all that hot. It was one of Mindy's and was surreal but not terribly funny. Nothing was all that funny last Thursday on Peacock Lane except for bits of Community.

I tend to like the business plots so naturally I thought fooling a competing salesman into a fake business deal was funny. And Michael hiring him then realizing later that he didn't need him is pure Michael Scott decision making.

I've seen too much Ed Helms lately. They had a whole deranged Andy episode before this and now he takes up almost half of this one too. I'd rather have a Creed episode!

I've always wanted to see more of Creed! As much as Ed Helms is overused, I agree, Creed is definitely underused.

Yup! Need more Creed.

Btw, anyone that wants to see a bit more of "Jan" can do so by watching Outlaw.

Really good episode tonight, probably the best of the season. Michael as MacGruber was great. Angela looked very good in the nurse's costume.

Timothy Olyphant is just guest-starring. His day-job is the lead character Raylan Givens on FX Network's terrific pseudo-western 'Justified', currently gearing up for S-2.

If your talking about the Halloween episode, then I agree. This weeks I thought was pretty much a dud.

The christening episode had its moments, but felt a little weird to me. Funniest moment for me was Toby finally summoning the courage to walk in to the (now empty) church and then asking "Why are you always so mean to me?"

I didn't care for it either. What is happening to this show? I agree that it felt weird. It was basically a bunch of people moaning and complaining. They contrasted the Sabre employee's misery to the Mexico bound crew. That in itself didn't seem funny.

This was kind of predictable. As soon as they said the kids were going to Mexico, I knew Michael Scott would do the stupidest thing possible and quickly have second thoughts. "Losing" the baby didn't have much of a payoff.

I know on the AVS Forum you're supposed panic whenever your favorite show has a crummy episode but there have been episodes of the Office that I've disliked more.

I mostly agree. The ruining of the christening dress and the losing of the baby were just too predictable. If it hadn't been for Andy joining Michael on the bus, I would have actually thought they might go through with him ending up in Mexico for a few episodes (they did have Pam out of town for a while a few seasons ago, as well as Jim's temporary transfer). As soon as Andy joined him, I figured they problem wouldn't go through with the both of them leaving the office for long.

The only real redeeming aspect of the episode was Toby's subplot. It was so simple, yet effective.

"Why are you always so mean to me?"

This episode brought up some issues that our most unstable characters have been dealing with.

Who is the "boss" at the Office? Is it Gabe or Michael? Of course I mean how will they let Michael continue to live in his make-believe world when everyone else knows Gabe is the boss?

And why did Erin dump Andy for Gabe? Of course I mean how will Andy continue to live in his make-believe world when Gabe (who did not graduate from an Ivy-league school) is better at everything?

I thought ending the show with Erin and Michael having a freakish daughter/father conversation was too weird to be funny but there were some really funny moments. I don't watch Glee.

Very good episode this week. I was amazed that they were able to show clips of Glee on The Office since Glee is on FOX.

Studios don't mind cross promotion. Maybe it was an arrangement they had with Fox for using the Office theme in the Simpson's Halloween special this season.
