After the disappointing last episode I was surprised at how funny this was.

"How about I pound you like a little boy, that didn't come out right."

I'm glad this is moving to 8pm, there's too many other shows on at 9pm and SNL Update is basically filler in the sitcom block.

The important thing is that I like Jeff now. I thought he was an annoying jerk in the first two episodes. Now he's a likable jerk.

The breaking table was an obvious, predictable joke, but I burst out laughing every time I think of it.

Thought last night's was far and away the funniest of the three. The first 15 minutes especially. Really well done.

In my opinion, "Modern Family" is by far the breakout comedy of the season.

The third episode was by far the best of the season. It is a shame that the show is moving to 8:00 pm. I am already taping/watching two shows at that time frame.

I really liked last night's ep as well - funny stuff. The characters are getting fleshed-out and showing some vulnerabilities.

I don't like the move either but with 30 Rock coming back I figured a move would be happening. I'll just have to watch it live (like I have been with SNL) as I am already DVR'n Survivor and FlashForward.

Seriously? You didn't think that the Modern Family pilot was much funnier than the second episode? IMHO, the second episode of MF was a HUGE drop off.

Not at all. At least not for the wife and I. There were truly some laugh out loud moments in the second episode for us. We didn't really notice any drop off at all. If anything, we liked the tweaks they seemed to apply to 'cool dad'. He was a bit less over the top.

I think it's going to be a terrific series.

Community is currently my favorite of the Thursday night comedies. At least until 30 Rock returns. It has definately eclipsed The Office in our house. Although The Office may offer more "roll of the couch laughing" moments, they also come with some really annoying characters and a sense of bitterness that I'm getting pretty tired of now.

I am also enjoying Community, as well. Just a reminder to everyone that the show moves to 8:00/7:00 time slot starting this Thursday.

I thought this was the best episode so far. Everyone had a role to play and it all fit together nicely with some good dialog. The cast seem a lot more relaxed too, I think the show has found it's rhythm.

The scene with Shirley and the small nipple mimes I thought was hilarious.

Now we just have to wait and see if an 8pm slot is better or worse for ratings. I wouldn't be surprised if they drop and this becomes anothers short run comedy that was canceled before it's time.

"Indiana Jones."

"I only got you the first three ..."

"Because the fourth one sucks."

After several episodes, I can now see where they're going with this show. The pilot was all about the Spanish class, which was the only connection these folks have, so I was under the impression the show would be entirely about Senor Chang's class. But now it appears we're going to get to see the entirety of the Community College experience, and the connection these folks have is their study group. I like that premise alot better, because it allows us to audit each individual one at a time, see the classes they are taking, and learn a little bit about each of them.

Great episode. It gets better every week. Best comedy series since "Seinfeld." I expect it to be canceled.

That's always a possibility, but I don't think so. It was moved to the 8:00PM EST as of last night. NBC must think enough of it to start its Thursday night lineup, a very crucial night for broadcasters, to give it at least a full Season.

And "Arrested Development" was the best sitcom since "Seinfeld". I think we need to give it more than 4 eps before making that pronouncement, but I do like this show.

I like the "Chandler/Phoebe" bit

he compares their relationship to Chandler and Phoebe
then refers to her as Chandler....meaning he's Phoebe. lol

rare, good comedic writing!!!!!

I normally don't watch sitcoms until they reach syndication, and even then only some of them. That's why I consider "Seinfeld" to be one of the last, along with "Frasier" and "3rd Rock from the Sun."

It's been a long time since I watched a sitcom from the beginning and ended up watching every episode. Those would include "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and "The Bob Newhart Show."

I'm taking a gamble on "Community." I'm usually not this much of a risk taker.

Watched the 3rd and 4th episodes. I gotta say I'm impressed at how quickly the show has found its groove.

I just lost it watching the 3rd episode. Some writer has clearly been harboring a grudge against Dead Poets Society for a long time! Loved the whole, "Why are we told to not stand on our desks thing?" followed by a triumphant crash.

Also, did Community steal the whole "son filming his life to show his dad how much of an ass he is" bit from Down and Out in Beverly Hills? Right down to the family business. Well executed, even if a bit schmultzy.

4th episode a little less loved, but still pretty good. Loved the bit about how the drugs were supposed to help the preppy white girl improve her educational outlook but all they did was help her lose a scholarship and her virginity.

I also think the show deserves some credit for not overdoing the horny loser thing with Jeff. Any time I watch a sitcom setup a character as a lecherous leg humper, I fear it is going to degenerate into Two and a Half Men (a show whose tagline should be, "We get it: they're horny"). You can actually sympathize with Jeff, since every guy has been there at some point, just trying to orbit around a girl who will not give you a break.

It's probably more accurate to say it sucks and blows! Because just when you think the movie couldn't get any worse it then proves you wrong.

Why would I be, I get paid to do a job I love.

Was listening to Rick D's last weekend, and he had said the top downloaded show for the week was Gossip Girl. It's not my fault Nielsen doesn't do it's job correctly. But alas, that's for another thread.
