Already completed Prototype 2. Enjoyed the ending.

The 8 bit episode was a riot! I can't stop watching it!

I hope this show gets one more season.

It's getting at least one more season (albeit limited to 13 eps).

NBC is the AT&T of television networks.

I personally liked season 3, and don't get all the criticism. This is the first season where I re-watched the majority of the episodes multiple times throughout the week, mostly to catch all the in-jokes and hidden easter eggs. There are so many layers to each episode that a single viewing doesn't do it justice. In previous seasons, the only episodes I re-watched were the Paintball ones and other epic-style episodes... but this season, Harmon went for broke and EVERY episode was epic.

Harmon gone? That's just dumb.

I'll give the new season a try, but my expectations have cratered.

Here is an interesting opinion on the firing of Dan Harmon, written by Ken Levine, who is another Hollywood showrunner.

Sucks to hear about Harmon.
That 8-bit episode is now one of my all time favorite Community episode. So funny!

A good read. Thanks for posting this, Shedrock.

While I still am leaning towards the loss of Harmon being a negative thing for COMMUNITY's 4th season.....Mr Levine does state some things that at least give me some glimmer of hope that the new runners may just surprise us.

We'll know for sure come fall.

I agree. For those like skyhill who prefer the ordinary sitcom episodes and somehow thought this season went "off the rails" ( are you kidding me!) they should be happy next season.

No, ordinary Community is NOT ordinary sitcom. I suspect we won't get shows like Conspiracy Theories, Aerodynamics of Gender etc with some new generic showrunners and writers.

Why would I be happy with Community that Dan Harmon doesn't have his hands on? And *SHOCK* different people have different opinions about which season they love the most.

Sony's memo to the actors after Dan's firing:

"Team Community:

With last night's news of David Guarascio and Moses Port as new showrunners/EPs on "Community" running in the press, and since we know that cast members have interviews coming up this week, I wanted to forward some messaging we hope our cast will find helpful as they navigate questions that will undoubtedly come up. I know that David and Moses are reaching out to them all directly but I've also heard from some of the actors that they'd like some guidance on the topic.

I saw some of the tweets that went out and were glad they all addressed their own sentiments quickly, and we're hoping that the news will lose some steam over the next day, especially if we're not perpetuating the topic in any way

We're tracking the coverage and conversation and will circle back if we feel the need to reshift our plan or messaging. Please let me know if you have questions.

-Why did Dan get let go from the show?

We're not made aware of why staffing changes take place but I will always be grateful to Dan for his great work on the show and wish him only the best. We're also excited that we'll be back on NBC's schedule in the fall and are looking forward to working on those episodes.

-Were you aware that Dan was going to be let go?

No, that's not something we're consulted on. I'm sad to see him go but I am looking forward to starting our next 13 episodes of "Community."

-Did the studio or network consult with you about these changes?

No they didn't but we're looking forward to working with David Guarascio & Moses Port on a new season of Community.

-What are their plans for the new season?

It's a little early to say at this point but we're looking forward the stories our characters will find themselves in come Sept. "

The best way for the show to deal with this change publicly would be for the season premier next year to address the change in brass, much in the same way 30 Rock deals with Kabletown.

Perhaps an episode with the board of directors being ousted in the aftermath of the Chang episode. Maybe be self-referential, by saying that things got a little to crazy under the old leadership, and they needed some new leadership to make sure the school goes in the right direction. Maybe even some kind of analogue for Sony as an evil overlord of the school.

Totally - dude, they may need some new writers. Get thyself to L.A....now!

I'm being silly here, not facetious - that would be a great way to open the next season.

Don't worry it will blow over as long as we don't keep talking about it.

Come September nobody will remember what happened as the show continues to be exactly the same old crazy, unpredictable cultural zeitgeist it always is.

It shouldn't come as a surprise but every single one of the possible selections that Abed could choose when speaking to Hilda in the video game episode are references to other video games. Here's someone who breaks them all down:

Hilda and Abed

Further proof that the attention to detail in the show is phenomenal.

I love DVR. I stepped through each one, and got a chuckle. I recognized most of them, but its nice to see what the rest of them are!

It was also kind of cool to see all of the different text boxes that popped up throughout the episode. In one instance, the word "throne" was misspelled as "thorne".

Regardless of how anyone feels about Sony's need to spin things, I can't help but wonder how can anyone in charge of a major corporation like Sony be this stupid? Sending out memos to a very leak prone group, instead of making phone calls or doing face to face consults with 15 or 20 people tops is just moronic. It may not seem like it makes a difference, but giving a written set of talking points comes off way worse than if they had just pulled everyone in and gave them a "let's circle the wagons" type speech.

TV Notes
Entire ‘Community’ Cast Coming Back
By Nellie Andreeva, Deadline.com - Jun. 27, 2012

EXCLUSIVE: The Greendale Community College gang will be coming back intact in the fall. I have learned that Sony Pictures TV, which produces Community, has picked up the options on all actors from the cult NBC comedy series for next season. That includes co-star Chevy Chase, who seemed noncommittal about his future on the show in the spring. “I probably won’t be around that much longer,” he said in an interview with the Huffington Post in April, around the time we broke the story about his feud with Community creator-executive producer Dan Harmon.

Following Community‘s renewal by NBC for a fourth season last month, Harmon was replaced with new showrunners, David Guarascio and Moses Port. When a Community Comic-Con panel was announced yesterday, confirmed to appear were Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Yvette Nicole Brown, Gillian Jacobs and Danny Pudi. The list doesn’t not include Chase as well as fellow original regular cast member Donald Glover. It turns out Chase is out of town for the convention but will be back to work when Community starts production on Season 4 as will be all other regulars, McHale, Jacobs, Brown, Brie, Glover, Jim Rash and Ken Jeong.

The series is riding high after scoring its first major award at the recent Critics Choice Television Awards, where it won best comedy series. More good news for the show came out of San Diego, where Community was moved up to the convention center this year.
